Vienna Symphonic Library Big Bang Orchestra: Fornax is a virtual instrument with a library consisting of unique sounds from three grand pianos mixed with various percussion instruments and played by six musicians performing together in the large hall at Synchron Stage Vienna. The collection allows you to create epic sounds, from mysterious touches to bombastic eruptions, for film and game scoring, trailer music, or sound design.

Fornax includes samples from the company s Steinway D-274, Bsendorfer Imperial, and Yamaha CFX grand pianos combined with plate bells, tubular bells, gongs, pitched and unpitched drums, and more. It offers several setups, categorized into Low Range and High Range instruments. Low Range instrument setups offer combinations of three pianos, plate bells, tubular bells, pitched gongs, taikos, timpani, and bass drum. High Range instruments include plate bells, tubular bells, vibraphone, suspended cymbals, gongs, and triangle. Combining instruments from both groups enables you to cover the entire frequency spectrum.

The performers were lined up at three main positions on stage (left, center, right). In addition to overhead microphones, Decca Tree, and surround mics, the instruments were isolated during the recording sessions with close microphones, while being played together in the ensemble. This gives you more control and more creative options when mixing your sound using the included Synchron Player s internal mixer.

The software is compatible with Mac and Windows and operates in AU, VST, and AAX formats. Fornax integrates perfectly with every module in the BBO.

Modify Your Sound with the Included Synchron Player

The close-mic positions of each percussion group can be independently adjusted in the integrated mixer of the Synchron Player, giving you more freedom to modify your overall percussion sound.

Factory mixer presets are based on the room microphones, leaving the section microphones disabled. Section microphones can be added to emphasize certain instrument groups.

6 levels of reverberation and additional processed presets are offered for each microphone setup: Close, Classic, Wide, Distant, Ambient, Wet.

Change the level, panning, delay, and channel EQ settings for each channel. You can also insert any of the built-in FX plug-ins to further optimize your sound.

Room Microphones Mixer Presets

Room Mix Presets: Based on a room mix created from all available room microphones.

Stereo Decca Tree Presets: The Decca Tree is the microphone tree that is the heart and soul of every orchestral recording. It consists of a main stereo channel and a mono center channel, which capture the details of the room from the conductor s perspective.

Surround-to-Stereo Presets: Offer the massive sound of all available room microphones, including the Decca Tree mics downmixed to a stereo signal.

Surround Presets: With your Synchron Player inserted as a surround plug-in in your DAW, these presets provide the starting point for your surround setup.

Processed Presets: Use the integrated compressor to achieve an even more powerful sound.
