Vienna Symphonic Library Big Bang Orchestra: Musca is a virtual instrument with a library consisting of two string ensembles with six cellos and four basses playing in octaves, at Synchron Stage Vienna. A perfect complement to BBO: Lyra High Strings, this library expands the series with rich and warm low-end string sounds designed to create large and beautiful melodies right out of the box, for authentic-sounding film and game scoring, trailer music, and sound design.

The two ensembles were recorded playing together to create a homogenous, well-balanced sound, as the 10 musicians adjust their intonation, tone color, phrasing, and vibrato instantly and instinctively, while listening to each other.

Big Bang Orchestra: Musca offers a large palette of articulations that include variations of short notes, long notes with two vibrato intensities, legatos, espressivo, sfz, sffz, crescendos, and diminuendos, tremolos, fast repetitions, halftone and whole-tone trills, halftone and whole-tone slides up and down (glissandos), and pizzicatos.

The included Synchron Player allows you to easily adjust the tempo of all articulations (repetitions and glissandos) using the integrated time-stretch feature. Special patches let you combine the low strings of Musca with the high strings of Lyra, either by layering the two ensembles over the entire keyboard or by using a split point at C3.

The instruments were recorded with an array of microphone setups, which include stereo Decca tree, surround, and high surround outriggers. This gives you more control and more creative options when mixing your string sounds using the Synchron Player s internal mixer.

The software is compatible with Mac and Windows. It runs as standalone software or operates in AU, VST, and AAX formats. Big Bang Orchestra: Musca integrates perfectly with every module in the BBO series.

Modify Your Sound with the Included Synchron Player

The section microphones can be independently adjusted in the integrated mixer of the Synchron Player, allowing you to emphasize the power of certain sections and giving you more freedom to modify your overall string sound.

Six levels of reverberation and additional processed presets are offered for each microphone setup: Close, Classic, Wide, Distant, Ambient, and Wet.

Change the level, panning, delay, and channel EQ settings for each channel. You can also insert any of the built-in FX plug-ins to further optimize your sound.

Room Microphones Presets

Room Mix Presets: Based on a room mix created from all available room microphones.

Stereo Decca Tree Presets: The Decca Tree is the microphone tree that is the heart and soul of every orchestral recording. It consists of a main stereo channel and a mono center channel, which capture the details of the room from the conductor s perspective.

Surround-to-Stereo Presets: Offer the massive sound of all available room microphones including the Decca Tree mics down-mixed to a stereo signal.

Surround Presets: With your Synchron Player inserted as a surround plug-in in your DAW, these presets provide the starting point for your surround setup.

Processed Presets: Use the integrated compressor to achieve an even more powerful sound with presets such as Compressed, Sparkling, Wall of Strings, Howling Strings, and more.
