PACE Anti-Piracy iLok USB-A 3rd-Generation USB Type-A Software Authorization Key

This a a far superior design than the flimsy iLok Gen 1, and a solid upgrade from the still plastic Gen 2 model. The product description says it holds much more data / authorizations. I am not sure we would ever have enough licenses to fill it up.

I have had the same 2nd gen iLok for about 8 years and it's still going strong. I needed a new one only as back up and to put new licenses on, so I bought this 3rd gen iLok. Just plugged it in and registered it to my account and it worked like a charm. No hiccups. Super easy to set up and now I have 2 iLoks on the same account. Not that I can have 1 license in 2 iLoks at the same time for most of the software I use, but I can at least hold more licenses now. And use one for reinstating licenses with the iLok zero downtime if something would happen to one of them. I like how the 3rd gen iLok is much smaller and has an all metal body unlike my old 2nd gen that is only plastic. I have only used this new 3rd gen iLok for about a week though so I can't comment on it's durability, but if it's anything as reliable as my 8 year old 2nd gen then I'm sure it's going to last a while. So that's why I'm giving it 5 stars. I'll update this review if anything changes.

You're REQUIRED to use it, but at least it's low profile and doesn't get in the way. Could be so much worse.

Bummer to have to buy a new iLok when my original first-generation iLok is in great shape, but what can you do? Works great. Of course, it just sits there with a little red LED glowing. Not like it's got a lot to do. I do enjoy its 21st-Century styling, though. So there, that.
