Available for download, Blue Cat Audio Re-Head is a plug-in designed to recreate the feeling of mixing in a real control room while utilizing headphones, which is not an ideal mixing medium for many engineers. Headphones are quiet and headphones can make your workflow far more mobile but they do not account for the sound of audio bouncing around a well-treated room. Re-Head is Blue Cat s solution for this problem.
At the center of Re-Head is a head-response model, one designed to recreate the effect that comes when a physical skull (your skull) takes up space in a physical environment. This is compounded by stereo processing that minimizes the hard-panned effect of headphones, bringing the image in front of you, rather than to the left and right side of your head.
For those who have IRs saved of their mixing environment, IRs taken through measurement mics and corresponding software, Re-Head provides an impulse response loader. Load the sound of your studio even when you re not there. The software also has a spectrum analyzer and an EQ.
This software is compatible with Mac and Windows platforms. It will operate in AU, VST, and AAX formats.
