OWC 1TB Express 1M2 USB4 External SSD

Had high hopes for this enclosure but it absolutely does not perform as advertised. I had both the the 1T version I bought from and the empty enclosure I bought directly from OWC (because it was not available on ) with both performing exactly the same way. Tested it by transferring a large folder (about 70gigs) from my internal PCI 5 internal hard drive with OWC connected to one of the USB 4 port. It started off at over 2000mbs rate but instantly dropped down to around 500mbs and stayed there. Contacted OWC support and the rep not being able to assist, mentioned that the enclosure is new and I should contact the support for my motherboard to ensure it is fully updated. Decided to buy a different enclosure (Zike) just as a test and low and behold that enclosure maintained a speed of about 2500 mbs with the same internal hard used in the OWC enclosure. To add salt to the womb, the company has the most painstaking return process I have ever had the displeasure of experiencing along with a 15% restocking fee. The rep attempted to ask a ton of questions about the system I was using etc etc, even after I told him that I used another enclosure the same way and got the advertised performance, to the point where I had to annoying said I am done answering questions and just want to return the unit. The rep then put me on hold for almost 10 mins to supposedly work on the RMA only to come back on the phone to get my email address as he claimed he was still working on it and will send the RMA to my email address once done. I guess has spoilt us with their out of this world amazing return procedure. There are no other company like when it comes to purchasing or returning. I will never buy another OWC product directly from them or any of their product for that matter due to my experience. has set the gold standard in consumer experience.
