ASUS ZenWiFi ET8 AX6600 Wireless Tri-Band Gigabit Mesh Wi-Fi Module (White)

Used the ET8 2-Pack to replace an older Asus router and two TPLink repeaters. Setup was easy (I chose to use wired backhaul) Coverage is significantly better, connections much more reliable and faster than with old system. I have not experienced any of the dropout/disconnect problems reported by other reviewers.

I now have four white ET8 nodes in MESH with my ASUS GT AXE11000. In my home, I much prefer the smaller form factor of the ET8 routers over larger ones bristling with external antenna. My one level brick home is 5,000 square feet with two massive brick fireplaces that block signal. The L design of the home also doesn't help. I originally had my old ASUS RT AC5300 and two RT AC3100 routers in MESH with the new AXE11000, but soon had to remove the AC5300 as it was broadcasting one 5GHz. band unsecured no matter how I tweaked it in the MESH. I kept the two AC3100 routers in MESH with the 4 new ET8 routers all in MESH with the AXE11000. I then started seeing some instability in connections and found out the main AXE11000 router should not have more than 5 MESH router nodes unless using some with LAN cables for the backhaul connections. LAN cables would have been a real pain, so I had instead used all wireless connections for the MESH nodes. I retained one AC3100 in the MESH, installed in my attic, for a total of 5 nodes connected to the AXE11000. These changes have slowed much of the frequent automated AXE11000 node reconfigurations that were going on. Now, all but one of my ET8 nodes continually show Great connections in the software with one alternating between Weak and Good. Eventually, I will correct that by installing a long LAN cable from the main AXE11000 through walls and the attic to that farthest node. This will allow more of the 6GHz nodes to free up their 6GHz. backhauls for stronger 6GHz client signals from each ET8 node. The 5 GHz. and 2.4 GHz. signals are strong. throughout my home for the moment, but I need 6 GHz. connections - as my neighborhood is heavily polluted with 2.4 and 5 GHz. WiFi signals that were previously knocking my smart TVs off the Internet at times. For the moment, this is no longer happening, but I want all my signals registering as Great in the software. Understand, all ASUS 6GHz. MESH system main routers continually try for improved wireless connections - and this does cause client signals to occasionally lose connection. So, you really need all wireless nodes reporting strong connections directly to the main router and not daisy chained to each other to the main router. A nice feature of the mobile phone software is it also allows you to easily see how good the client connections are and to keep up with how the main router is keeping or changing all the MESH node and client connection configurations. This allows you to see how node placement and whether LAN cable connection addition changes are needed for some nodes. The software also makes it easy to update the firmware of the main router and the nodes - be sure to update all for best performance. So far, I've noted some router and node improvement in each firmware update - mostly in improved node to main router wireless connection along with a slight signal improvement in broadcasting from the main router.

I really wanted to like this router. I was excited for all the features. But I never even got online. The problem: * There is no manual, just a useless Quickstart guide. * The app required for setup is buggy and very touchy. * After going through setup, I got a red light: no internet. This despite confirming traffic is coming through the modem. * I called Asus support. I spent over ten minutes just spelling my name, email, and the serial number multiple times until I was even allowed to say what the problem was. (Not the support person's fault; their mandatory script is just horrible, though). * After being put on hold four times(!) I was told the router is definitely compatible with the modem but there is some problem with the router. Yeah! I know! That's why I called. * The only solution offered was to take it back to the retailer. I'm going to do exactly that, and never buy an Asus router again. In some, I ahve no idea if this router is any good when it actually connects. I'm sorry I never got to find out.

I have Orbi AC3000, and my internet plan is 1Ghz speed, my orbi satellite shows me speed of 500mbps and by main router shows me speed of 900 + mbps. After reading lots of reviews, purchased this ET8, 2pack, but i'm disappointed with my purchase, Satellite/Nodes are not powerful .compared to my existing orbi satellite, Asus satellite and router are 25 feet apart and i'm seeing more or less same speed as Orbi when connect wireless. Wired connection from Orbi satellite to my desktop gave me above 280mbps, but with Asus satellite i'm only getting 100 + mbps speed. In my opinion they are not worth €399 price tag. Performance is more or less same as my 2019 Netgear Orbi Ac3000.

Great price for a pair of 6E routers. I use as AP's behind a router. The 6E works great. Connection speed showed 1.4GB connection with throughout up to 90-95MB/s sustained. With two acting as AP's had coverage all over the house at full speeds. Setup by router GUI or the ASUS app was easy. Just put in my wifi information and theses new routers picked up everything on my network with no issues. 2.4 and 5GHz channels work fine too. Covers all the devices in my home. Size isn't big either. Great 6E wifi at a decent price.

Just a real treat to have in the mansion. I generally work from home (why would I come in?) and this has been a real life saver.

I'm a software engineer with a degree in telecommunications systems (networking). I would absolutely recommend the ASUS Zen Wi-Fi ET8 to friends and family. I own 4 of them. From a software perspective these appear to be very well tested and stable both in function and in security. From a usability perspective they are about as simple as you can get for setup. For the advanced user they give an impressive latitude in configurability.
