HiTi P525L Photo Printer

This is my second 525L printer. The first one I purchased about 4-5 years ago and is still working fine. I purchased a second printer to bring on gigs as a backup and/ or allow me to shoot multiple events per day.

I have been using Dye Subs for photo booth applications since the Sony UPCX-1. The Hiti 525L is now my favorite. I have used Sinfonia, Sony, Mitsubishi, and DNP printers. I use these printers hard and travel with them in some not so ideal conditions. The 525L is my most reliable under these conditions (fewest paper jams, fewest mechanical problems). The image quality is great for a Dye Sub, and I find the color pleasing and closer to my screen than my DNP's. I also love, love, love the LCD panel for checking paper remaining. The power consumption is also lower than my other dye subs, allowing me to run on battery power when needed. The Cost of 4x6 media is perhaps the cheapest of any Dye sub in this size range. I wish the media was more easily obtained (pandemic problems) and I wish these could work directly with Air Print - but so few dye subs do...

Honestly I was looking for something for my photography business and I was debating on the dnp printer. But there never paper around. So I decided to go with this one and Woow I love the quality and it's super quick. I printed 220 4x6 under 25 min. Super quick and amazing color.

I own 4 of these printers, have had to trade in two over the years for some mechanical flaws, but the Hiti main email/ support staff have helped me every time. 400,000 5x7 prints so far, about 80k-100k max per printer. They make great, consist, high quality, images and the machines have improved over time. Most problems have been with the firmware updates, which did eventually get resolved. I have 1-2 printing errors/ ribbon break per event (per 4k-5k prints), which is pretty great. I like that: it can print 280 pics in a roll without stopping; how easy it is to change the ribbon paper, a completely dry process, with no liquid ink involved; all colors run out at the same time since it is ribbon based. I travel with these printers. They are rugged, do about 5 5x7s/ min. Paper and ribbon price is about as cheap as Costco/ Sams Club. Good for events, but I do recommend buying an extra one in case one has an issue. I work with Mac software, but I think they were primarily made for PCs. Staff is nice at Hiti, but it does take time to get an answer (2-5 business days sometimes). You can't be in too much of a hurry, but they do know exactly how to help and will work with you to get a working machine in your hands if your current one doesn't work. Definitely, definitely, get a warranty when you buy. This has saved me more than once from a costly repair. In conclusion, I do recommend this printer for high yield printing, on the road event work, or for your studio. It's very professional in a small package.

The set up is pretty quick. Though the driver for Mac is not available, the customer representative for HITI are very responsive. They guide me through the process and the set up is like breeze. I highly recommend this printer.
