enwitec DC-Generatoranschlusskasten Überspannungsschutz Typ 1+2, 1 MPPT, 10012868, GAK-enwitec-S-1000-2R-X-BC-PC-1.1
Why a surge protector?
Since 14.12.2018, the use of AC surge protectors has become mandatory in all newly planned buildings.
In addition, when new PV systems are built, there is also an obligation to install at least type 2 surge protection on the DC side.
Increased DC overvoltage protection of Type 1+2 becomes mandatory if a lightning protection system is required in the application.
The installation of a lightning protection system is a comprehensive concept and describes not only the internal protection via named surge arresters, but also the so-called external protection by means of interception lines. Before deciding whether a Type I+II combined arrester must be installed, it should therefore first be clarified whether a lightning protection system is required or available. For existing buildings on which a new PV system is to be installed, only the PV system must be equipped with surge protection. The rest of the house remains unchanged.
Surge protection is always a good idea.
Regardless of whether lightning protection of the DC side is legally obligatory, it also makes sense in all cases to protect your PV system and the associated investment. Overvoltage damage caused by, for example, nearby thunderstorms can irreparably damage your inverter. Defects of this kind are excluded in all warranty conditions of the manufacturers known to us and in the event of damage this will be checked carefully. DC overvoltage contactors can be implemented relatively easily using a generator connection box installed between the inverter and the module field.
