ALZO CFL Photo Light Bulb (27W, 240V)

First I bought nine of these for my Impact Octacool 9 and only two of those worked. After I returned them and received a refund, I decided to order 20 so that I'd be sure to have seven working bulbs to complete my Octacool 9 with high CRI Alzo CFLs. Well, I received them today and literally 18 of the 20 bulbs did not work. I was in disbelief. After buying 29 of these, I managed to get four that work. I love and have been using them for decades, but they need to send someone into the stockroom to test the ones they have so they don't waste hundreds of dollars shipping them to people and then paying to have them immediately shipped back. I'm not sure of any high CRI alternative to Alzo for CFLs, so I guess I'll just be giving up on fluorescents and switching to LED now.

While the bulb seems to match the color of the Ego light its coloration is closer to the cool Kelvin number than regular daylight. I wish it was warmer as I work with glass and use colors that react to sunlight. this does not happen with this bulb.

Please disregard my prior review as I posted it before I shot a video with them. I have five of these in my kitchen's recessed light fixtures. These are large. The spiraled tube is thicker and longer, thus sticks out of the light fixture a bit. They are definitely bright white. Along with the Alzo 45W bulbs used in our soft light boxes, we have plenty of daylight white for our videos. This was the first set of videos my wife did not need to color correct, just had to modify brightness/contrast a little. Much improved over using a mix of the warmer light bulbs.

First of all, I don't have a light meter so I can't be scientific about this. I bought these to replace the 13W warm CFL bulbs in my kitchen's recessed lighting fixtures. The old ones looked orange and were short enough to fit in the recessed lights. The kitchen looked relatively bright, though. It was part of my nightmare to color correct our cooking videos. That and some wrong bulbs in our soft-box lighting kits also contributed. Our light tan/off white Formica counter tops looked orange until you color corrected. I have five fixtures. I could only use four bulbs because two shipped defective ( will replace them so props to for their quick service). I don't imagine adding that 5th bulb will contribute much overall. I don't know if it is as much of a shock about the change from orange to bright white or if these bulbs truely aren't as bright due to the color and/or their higher CRI? I will say I like the result. The kitchen seems more accurate color on everything, but the lack of warm lighting seems more harsh. I would never use these in a dining room or living room. These are strictly for food photography. The older bulbs were 825 lumens and these are 1300, yet just don't seem as bright. I'll definitely keep them as we need to use this color for our videos. Lastly, even if you are just ordering these for replacements, you'll want to plug them in for a test. Two of the six I ordered were DOA. I immediately RMA'd them. All eight of the 45W versions of these bulbs worked, so not sure about the quality on these smaller ones. Go figure. Love . Great service.
