The RadioPopper Jr2 Transmitter is a 16 channel, four group radio transmitter that operates on the 902-928 MHz, ISM band and is capable of adjusting the output of the flash using a separately purchased Jr2 receiver for Nikon i-TTL or Canon E-TTL/II flash units. Triggering and power control from distances of 300-1750 depending on conditions and environment is possible.
The transmitter s simplified, intuitive backlit display works on an easy to use button and dial design that indicates power levels, group selection, radio channel selection local or remote control and remaining battery power. The transmitter gets 20 hours of run time on two AAA batteries and weighs 1.7 oz. Triggering at sync speeds up to 1/500 sec is possible with cameras that have leaf shutters. The Jr2 Transmitter will also trigger a wide variety of RadioPopper receivers without power control. Please see the features section for a complete list.
Dial Operation - Selecting groups
Power levels are adjusted by simply rotating the adjustment dial. The adjustment is made to the highlighted group (or groups) with the frame around it. You can highlight all enabled groups at the same time. Adjustments are applied to all enabled groups and settings can be locked in
Toggle Groups On and Off
Enabling and disabling groups is easy. Just click the button for the desired group and it will toggle on and off. When toggling on, the power level will remain where it was when toggled off
Simple 9 Stop Max and Min Power Control
Power levels are set between 9.0 at maximum to 0.0 at minimum. The increments are based on an EV f/stop scale. One full increment change on the display of your Jr2 Transmitter is equal to one f/stop change on your camera.
Save Settings
The Jr2 Transmitter provides four memory locations for saving lighting setups. Each memory location can save a snapshot of the present settings, including which groups are enabled, which groups are highlighted for editing, and the power levels of each group
Recalling Saved Settings
This allows you to quickly restore previously saved settings and immediately resume shooting with your creative process uninterrupted. You may exit the recall mode at any time without altering the present settings by tapping the P button. The unit will resume normal shooting mode
Setting 1/3 Stop or 1/10 Stop Increments
Select between either 1/3 stop or 1/10 stop adjustments. When in 1/3 stop mode, each step of rotation of the dial will adjust the power level by 1/3 stop, and similarly in 1/10 stop increments when set to 1/10 setting
Setting EV vs % Mode
Each group many be independently set to a stop accurate EV scale, or a more approximated percentage % scale
Compatibility
The Jr2 Transmitter will trigger the following RadioPopper devices: RP Nano Receiver, PX Receiver (when used on Canon compatible speedlights), JrX Receiver (the group used for controlling JrX Receivers must be changed from EV mode to % mode. You will not have stop-accurate control of legacy JrX Receivers, though you will be able to approximate power level control from the % scale which approximates the dial position of legacy JrX Transmitter units. Remote power control of Nikon or Canon I-TTL/E-TTL/II flashes is possible with purchase of a dedicated receiver
