Yongnuo YN360 III Daylight RGB LED Light Wand

I really wanted to like these lights but I ended up replacing them. They have quite a few issues that prevent them from being the solution I was hoping. First and foremost the detachable remote is kind of a hindrance instead of a help. If the button cell battery in the remote dies you are out of luck even though the light has contacts on it to connect to it. If the battery is dead even though the remote screen lights up when attached to the light you can't change any settings. Next off there is a channel button right on the face of the remote. If you are holding the light and shooting and if you accidentally press the channel button it will un pair from the light and then the light will shut off. If you don't specifically remember what channel the light was on you have to go through like 20 channels to get back to the right one so the remote will re pair with the light. I often hold the light to shoot photos and this is a huge problem. You would think you can just pull the remote off and put it in a pocket but the buttons get activated all of the time there too. You can lock the buttons but it's an over complicated procedure and if you don't push the buttons at the exact same time together it will either just shut off the remote or flip the channel. Second thing I don't like is how the battery mounts in the light and the overall form factor. The battery mounts from the front so if you put the battery in and lay the light down on it's side it will always face slightly down and not light up an area. You can flip it to lie straight up but many times you want to light up a wall or surface not the ceiling. Basically the only way to really use these lights is to mount them on a stand. You can't really use them like you would a tube light where you could stash them various places behind things etc because they can't easily be angled into the right position because of the way the battery mounts and because they don't have any flat sides except the back. So you basically have to use these mounted on a stand. And then last thing is they aren't really all that aesthetically pleasing. You can for instance have a tube light in your shot in a music video etc and it looks fine and looks like set design however if this is in your shot it just looks like equipment and not part of the set. All of this really impacts the way you can use these lights when making videos. Overall these are a bust. On the surface they seem similar to tube lights but they are way less useful and way more frustrating and unreliable.
