DOFTec Z-96K Professional Photo & Video LED Light Kit

The light seems to work pretty well, but be careful, it is very light weight, not too strong at all. My biggest disappointment with it is that there was not a single piece of paper with it, no instructions, NONE! The battery charger comes apart and has to be put back together before you can use it. I had to figure out how to attach the battery to the light. It goes on the outside of the light, not inside. But, the door to the battery compartment has to be opened to get the battery to slide into position and then close the battery door with the battery attached to the outside. There is a little attachment included with the light, but I have no idea what it's for because NO INSTRUCTIONS CAME WITH THIS LIGHT! There is no manual of any kind. The manufacturer could have saved me a lot of time by including a small info leaflet with the light.

I bought this Professional Photo & Video LED Light Kit for my GoPro HERO5 Black to try improving the quality of my videos and had hoped this LED camera light would be a step in the right direction. My initial thoughts are the jury's still out. I would be very unhappy had I paid the full price. Luckily, I purchased it as a DealZone special. However, even at the lower DealZone price, I'm not entirely satisfied with the quality of this LED light source. It feels like a cheap plastic and the cold shoe mount doesn't seem like it will hold up to very many adjustments as it's so flimsy feeling. Worst is the high-pitched harmonic tone interference being picked up in my GoPro HERO 5 Black when the LED light is set to about 75-80% illumination. This could utterly ruin video recording sessions. Properly designed electronic devices used to be tested for their potential electronic interference, especially for equipment being used near recording equipment. Having that harmonic being picked up by the camera at various brightness levels is not good. Another complaint I have is about the smooth-turning brightness control nob. The dial may be step-less but the actual light output is not. It has a noticeable notch-like effect jumping or flashing from one lower setting to a higher setting and back again. I'd not call this step-less. Also, it didn't come with any information...no instruction manual or even a sheet describing what the little plastic adapter plate is for or how to use it. I also swear when I bought it the DealZone described it coming with an AC/DC adapter and European electrical adapter...neither was included. I'll put it through it's paces as I still intend to use it for creating my newer videos. Up until purchasing this, I've been using any external light I can rig up from house lamps without shades to garage and work lights. I'm hopeful this will improve my video lighting and intend to keep this DOF Tec LED light turned to maximum illumination with both diffuse filters attached when inside house and garage and without the amber tungsten simulator filter when outside.

One of the contact terminal of AA battery broke and as such this option no longer works. These contacts are paper thin and very delicate. Rechargeable battery works. No longer returnable so I am stuck with it.

These are on sale often and I like the case that comes with it and the charger and all. I think I paid like 75 ish. But they list for double that. NO way I'd pay that. For 75 they are fine but I would not pay more. The quality of the light beam itself is lacking a bit but I have 2 and they work well. The battery that comes with it does ok but I got the big Watson back up. That's a beast. The battery door and using the battery is ifie at best but with a little work and effort you can work around it. I like the fact I can also use AA batteries in a pinch.
