Angler BoomBox Strip Softbox with Bowens Mount V2 (12 x 55')

Very inexpensive, but I figured I would give them a try. I was pleasantly surprised how well they were made. I liked it so much I got a second one. Great for adding rim light to my subjects, even for full body shots. Warning in advance, they are pretty big, so probably not ideal for a small studio, but they work great if you have the room for them. Comes with inner and outer diffusor layers, so pretty even light.

Prior to making a purchase on these (bought a couple), I was looking at Westcott's 1x4 rapid strip boxes. I own a few Westcott rapid boxes and I was looking for something similar in terms of speed of setup but at an affordable price point. For the work I do (studio and on location product photography) these will serve their purpose very well! Not to mention all the accessories that come included! BUY IT NOW! Stop going back and forth

The Angler Strip softbox is great for turning a COB LED light into a strip light. These are well made like other Angler products I have, and they are very quick and easy to setup. Among other uses, I use them to light green screen setups - 1 on each side. For wider setups, I would add a center light from the ceiling or floor.

Loving this softbox. No need to install the poles and struggle with manual install like with some older style soft boxes, this just pops open and closes with ease. It is a fairly large strip softbox, great for shooting headshots, product photography without spilling light in the background even without a grid depending on the distance you are form it of course.... Speaking of which...At the time of this review, is including the softbox. Don't wait and save instantly that 45 bucks for that grid until they decide to change this deal. Usually the grid is a separate purchase. I love that this softbox is lightweight and will work even for Paul C Buff strobes, which I'm actually using it with, such as a White Lightning X3200. Since this speed ring is non removable, all you need is a Balcar or alien Bees adapter and the bowens mount will fit. About €20... The Angler BoomBox Strip Softbox comes with two layers of diffusion and it has an unique collapse and fold design. Fits back, with rods and diffusers installed in the included bag very easily and you also have space to put the grid inside the bad as well! Keep the little plastic that came with the grid to avoid foreign debris or getting the grig stuck somewhere. This softbox does what I want. Very pleased.

Just got this one in and it looks good. I bought it for the deflector dish to spread the light out across the entire strip box. I am writing this to let people know they can change the speed ring. I contacted and they said it could'nt be done. I have Bowens and Paul Buff lights. If you want to change the mount you will need a 144mm speed ring insert which is available from the other large photography reseller that starts with a A for around €15. The only con is I would like it to be made where you did not have to take off the reflector dish before collapsing the strip box. This could have been attached below the closing mechanism. Its not a deal breaker but would be nice to have.

What a great product. Setting up sofboxes can be a real pain in the neck and often take a long time to build, but this one is super easy. The main box opens and closes like an umbrella mechanism. No need to install the poles and struggle with bending them in place like with some soft boxes, this just pops open and closes with ease. That is very convenient. It comes with 2 layers of diffusion to use if you'd like. One in the middle of the box and one the outer end. These both attach with Velcro which is also very convenient and fast to install. Some softboxes have little clips to use for the diffusion cloth, which is annoying. The Velcro installation in this one is much better. From what I've read, one of the limitations of long strip lights like these is they sometimes have a hot spot in the middle, but this model comes with a reflective disk you can install which helps minimize that center hot spot by bouncing the light in the softbox. Again, this is very easy to set-up, just screw in the rod and slip on the disk at whatever distance from the light source as you want. This is the first strip softbox I've worked with and I am very excited with the possibilities it provides. I see this being a very effective hair light and full body side light. I also have the grid that goes with this light to help limit the spill and make it a little more controllable for some situations (# ANBBG1255). With the grid, I could even see myself using it as a full body key light or fill light in some situations. To be able to light the subject, basically full body with a soft, consistent light that is more controllable than a big round softbox could be very handy in certain situations. I also love that it comes with its own bag for storage and travel. This might not sound important, but being able to securely store it when not in use, not only adds to it longevity, but also helps keep all the pieces in one place and helps prevent losing anything parts. This is very helpful. Overall, I'm super impressed with this strip softbox. Set-up is very easy for a softbox and it will be a great addition to my kit.
