Godox Deep Parabolic Softbox (48')

I have been using a smaller soft box on talent, but never quite got the level of diffusion I wanted. Especially more mature women with less smooth skin. Then a film crew came in and filmed some people using this soft box and I was surprised that this slightly bigger diffuser made so much difference. Even thought it was just 1 step up, the end product was 1000X better. 5 out of 5 and not a lot of money to make things look amazing

While i get extremely good picture out of this modifier the rods are not solid and wont last very long, i have used it for one full year in the studio and the stitching are getting loose and the rods are starting to take some bend. Once assembled keep it this way, if you take off the rods often for storing it will only last a few month. The light quality still is impressive but when this break i will move to an Elinchrom 135cm or an impact 27 inch beauty dish.

Let's face it, only Briese, Broncolor and Parabolix make genuine parabolic softbox and the parabolic effect is only achieved with a focus / defocus light system. This softbox is large and light and produces flattering light. The nice and very practical detail about this modifier is its inner diffuser which has a thicker round plate in the middle which neutralises any hotspots thus balancing the light. The only minus is the connection from the 16 fibreglass rods to the circular bowens type connector. Indeed, a simple color marker between 4 rods (cross connectors) and the plate holes would have greatly helped when setting up the modifier. Without markers, you have to guess and spend a bit of time finding out which rod faces which one to avoid mounting it with the wrong rods / holes (like attaching the wrong buttons on a shirt). This is a very cheap solution which surprisingly is present on the P90L version.
