Impact Softbox 24 x 32' (61 x 80cm)

I'm an amateur photographer, to put it mildly, so take this review with a grain of salt. Or a pinch. Purchasing throughwas very easy; their customer support was competent and pleasant. Shipping was swift and the packages arrived without damage. The product was packed well in the shipping box, with air cushions surrounding it. The box for the Impact product itself was cheap and of a variety I'd never seen before. The individually wrapped items within were loosely packed, but there was no damage. Assembly of the soft box was simple, straightforward, and swift, although instructions are included. Attachment to the light was very easy due to the Bowens system. The internal ring attached to Bowens mount was loose, allowing the light to rotate around. This was easily remedied through the judicious application of a Phillips head screwdriver. The light quality the soft box emits is very nice compared to just about any domestic floor lamp (the only other lighting that I've experience with) It's diffuse yet directional, and the color temperature is unaffected (to my untrained eye) It was good purchase for the price.

Nice build. But its what you can expect from a soft box. Theyre a pain to put together at first...you dont wanna disassemble it afterwards because it can be a nightmare putting it back together. Wish it were a bit bigger.

Iwould have given this 5 stars if it wasn't so hard to put together. You have to use a force amount to press the poles in place that had me woring i'd bust it. Have not taken it down since i put it together and probably won't. Good for studio, but would not take this on location. Left open, i feel this will last- the black outside material is rather substantial. If you had to take this up and down each time to use it i'd be worried however. It does produce a nice light and does what it's suposed to.

This was my first softbox and I was so confused when I got it. After some fiddling around..it was pretty easy to put together. The preformance is great, coupled with the monolights it came with, this softbox does a good job.

Others have commented about there not being any instructions. This is true. It does take a little understanding of what has to be done to bend the rods and fasten everything. With the speed ring if you tighten the screws too tight in order to fasten it to the light, you then have problems when you try to turn the box from vertical to horizonal and vise versa. The light softness thrown from the box is nice and even.
