I have owned several of these in the larger size for years, that I use mainly with the Autopole system to fit 45mm diameter poles. For any fairly heavy equipment, I use a 3/8-16 bolt and female-threaded stud plus a lockwasher and spacer washers -- this makes a sag-free and far stronger connection than the proprietary aluminum studs Kupo makes (notice their thin shoulder that fits behind the slot, and I doubt it is aircraft grade). This clamp is convenient for being able to quickly raise or lower a load, and permits adding a counterweight and even a third item, however it is pretty rough on light stand poles. Clamping too tightly can indent aluminum poles at the point where the narrow dog contacts the pole, so it's best to use them with chrome plated steel ones, and a diameter close to 1.4 is best to avoid wobbling up and down because of reduced contact area on the other internal sides of the clamp with smaller poles. For many applications where quick adjustment isn't a priority, I prefer to use a grid clamp with bolted stud and lockwasher (see photo), to which I glue strips of rubber on the inside to prevent damage to the pole. This is less expensive but plenty strong. The finish on the knob is not as good on this small clamp as it is on my larger ones, so I took a file to it to knock down the overly angular corners. The overall quality appears to be a bit lower than it used to be.
