Manfrotto 143RC Magic Arm with 200PL-14 Quick Release

Before I was offput by the price point, but after receiving it, I am very happy. The build quality is incredibly high, and there is absolutely no slipping or downward drift with my camera, lens, and flash attached (total weight approximately 1900 grams). The clamp is well engineered, and it stays put on both my table top as well as any pole (monitor mount, tripod, or otherwise) that I've tried to attach it to, while not damaging any of the surface. The articulating arm is very tight, but it does take some getting used to when positioning it. When you release the tension, every joint freely moves, and it's taken some time for me to get used to the juggling act of getting the arm held in the right spot _and_ the camera point in the right direction. The tripod base that's included in this kit is probably the single least awesome part that's included, though, it is very functional... But I've decided I'm going to keep this in my bag (the larger bag) and only touch it for special use cases; under normal circumstances I'll use my dedicated tripods over the included base. Finally, if you do not already have a hot swappable shoe for your camera, I recommend that you grab one for this kit, as the screw on the camera mount is functional--but it's tedious when you take your camera off your magic arm kit. I am disappointed that the arms are a little short~approximately 10? or so inches. In my situation I could use an extra 2-4 inches for each fo the two arms, but that's definitely not a deal breaker. With that said, I will probably buy another set of these just to help my particular studio needs. Highly recommend this product.
