Aputure Sidus Link Bridge

Although the Bridge can link up with the LS 120DII, there is a bug in the software that will only take the lamp to 90%. There is no work around and it has been confirmed by CS at Aputure. I have three 120DII's and after trying to get them to work with the Sidus Link app up to 100%, I checked with Aputure and they told me it's a known issue. The photos show the power block of the 120DII and the Sidus Link app. As you can see, 90% on the lamp but the app reads 100% in tensity. Otherwise, I love all my Aputure lighting units.

This is a fantastic item that revives Aputure's older line of lights. You need the Sinus Link app and some patience. Other than that, everything works great! Took me less than five minutes to set everything up.

As far as pairing the Bridge to the Sidus app, it's as easy and intuitive as everything else that Aputure has produced. It's snappy and responsive in sending the signals, the range is great, and it looks snappy to boot. However, if you own a set of 120D Mark II's, there is a caveat to this. When you move the slider to change your output, you'll notice that the readout on your light and the readout in the app is always 10% off - the light being 10% lower than what the app readout is. So if you set the light to full, you get 90% output. If you set it to half, you get 40% output, and so on. I contacted aputure about this, and I've pasted directly from the email I received here: I did a test with the same devices yesterday and found the same problem you are experiencing. After checking with our product manager, I was told that this is not a malfunction. The brightness control protocol of 120dII is a little different from other old Aputure products, it's accurate to 1/1000. That's why such an issue only happens on LS C120dII light. You can try to tap the + or - button to get the target value. I'm so sorry for the confusion. I suspected this may not be something they plan to fix, so I asked. They said: Yes, I'm afraid there is no patch in the works for this. So.. Is it a deal breaker? Not exactly. You can tap the + button next to the slider in the app to make the slider go to 110%, but you do have to tap it ten times. You can't just hold it and make the light continue to go up. I sincerely hope they figure something out to make this more useful - even just expanding the slider to go to 110% when using the bridge. I don't know the technical side of it, but I do think this might work. Given that when my lights hit 100% and I hit the + button on my remote, they ignore it and stay at 100%, I'm sure that all the other lights would do the same. I hope Aputure rethinks this little bit, because it's the only kink I've found in an otherwise smooth experience. That said, not being able to put my light at 100% with one tap when that's a major function of the app... It does suck just a little bit. Other than that, it's Aputure - you know what you're getting is well made.
