Nanlite Nanlink WS-RC-C1 2.4GHz Remote Control

This Nanlink WS-RC-C1 2.4 GHz Remote Control from Nanlite operates on the 2.4 GHz wireless frequency and is especially valuable when using Nanlite and Nanlux lights with radio receivers positioned in hard to reach places. The remote can adjust the brightness, color temperature, hue, and saturation from distances up to 32'. On compatible lights, the WS-RC-C1 also enables you to toggle between hard and soft light modes.

Another nanlite nickel and dime product. Does it work? Sure. Can you see what settings you have? No. Icing on the cake is they couldn't bother to include the button battery that 90% of other remotes would have come with. The godox remote from 5 years ago that they managed to throw in with every light for free had a display. Although slightly larger the AAA batteries were easier to manage and recharge.

Also no battery..... But better than nothing at all. Godox may have my money in the future

I initially got the wrong remote... this is the one you want if you have the PavoTube II 6C. Very simple setup (set channel in PavoTube menu). The only oddity is that it does NOT come with a battery, and the required battery type has a typo in the manual: it requires (E)CR2032, NOT CR2302!

Let me begin by saying I am a fan of Nanlite and have owned Pavotubes for a couple years now. Until now Pavotubes were not remote controllable without a costly plastic WiFi adapter. Nanlite slashed the cost of the WiFi adapter in half but it is still over ten times more expensive than this little Nanlink remote. While Nanlite previously released the Nanlite RC1 remote it only controlled the Pavotubes in CCT mode. In addition to controlling CCT mode the Nanlink also controls HSI mode without needing the WiFi adapter. That is pretty cool. Nanlite badly needed to release this remote to try to play catch up with the Godox TL60 tubes and remote which have now leapfrogged their once innovative technology. Unlike the Nanlite RC1 and Godox remotes the Nanlink has no digital display leaving you to guess the color temperature in CCT mode or the hue in HSI mode. Additionally the Nanlink cannot control the FX mode of the original Pavotubes. The Nanlink is also incapable of controlling the Litolite 5c. Also there is no way to save presets in the Nanlink. So for the price of a couple cups of coffee you can now remotely control Pavotubes in both CCT and HSI modes albeit without numeric precision or recall. While this handy remote saves you having to walk around set to adjust lights and lets you adjust color temperature hue saturation and intensity from behind the camera one cannot help but think the Nanlink is nevertheless another missed opportunity by Nanlite. It is as if Nanlite are churning out bleeding edge lights without consulting filmmakers about their practical use on set. It is clear the Nanlink was an after thought that despite the benefit of hindsight was still not well thought out. Godox in contrast measure twice and cut once before releasing new lights and consequently are becoming viable contenders on professional sets. Still rooting for Nanlite to get out of their own way.

Works just fine and gives you control over multiple lights, but I had to dock a star because the light no longer displays critical data such as color temperature when using the remote, so you're left guessing if you want to match things up. They also got the required battery type wrong in the instrtuctions and I was stumped for a while looking for one that doesn't exist. It actually uses a CR2032, which they really should have included, so make sure to buy one.

This is a good product I have some pavotubes and they work great for putting the tubes on standby mode to conserve battery I would give this item a 5 but the FX control doesn't work on pavotubes other than that to control hue, the dimmer and on and off it's good
