Profoto B10X Plus Location Kit

Whatever you do, NEVER USE THE APP TO UPDATE FIRMWARE. I've used profoto for less than a year and already seen firmware failure completely destroy 4 units. Firmware earlier this year blew the capacitors on 2 units. Firmware earlier this month turned off 2 to units and made them unable to turn back on despite my best efforts. If your units are working whatever you do, DON'T UPDATE THEM!

I bought the profoto B10x Plus just recently. The first unit arrived with a faulty battery - rattling noise. Sent it back for an exchange. The exchange took so long that I grabbed the second unit and took it straight to a shoot. Terrible idea to rely on it. Second unit did not even power!What is going on with Profoto??

Have B1 x 3 heads. Wanted to have 1 more head. Even B10X battery cap is smaller, I dared wanted to have b10X for its compact / light weight size & I'm so glad I did. It's so easy to carry. Nice for an assistant who need to hand-held the head. So compact. Haven't used yet but I also like the modeling light feature.

This is a great flash. Easy menu, light weight, I put it in my camera bag to do a remote shoot and it fit with ease. Much easier than lugging B1's. I've only used it once with an umbrella, and I got great results and good skin texture. I'm going to buy one more and start selling off my B1's to pay for it.

One of the best on location heads I've head. Fast, mobile, perfect for photo and video shootings, Can be used with a smartphone camera but, ther eis a but on the very first shooting I was using OCF reflectors to avoid overload on the head body. During the shooting body overheated and both of the heads got cracks on the side. after the shooting one of the heads stopped responding to the charger. indicator was not showing charging battery icon. Tested chargers and batteris and found out it was B10Xplus bodies fault. Still waiting for profotos respond So if you are into havy duty work with outdoor shootings, I do not recomend spending on this one. You better get B1x still one of the best on the market!

This is my first time using Profoto gear. I picked up this unit along with the Pro Remote. Incredibly easy to set up; I was able to take some images immediately.Before I purchased this unit, I was considering the B10X. However, in my older setup which was comprised of multiple Canon 600 EX-RTs, I would often gang up four of those speedlites together in order to fill a larger modifier and/or to have extra power. The B10X would have given me the same light output, but I decided on having the extra stop. And very glad I did.In doing an experiment comparing the B10X Plus at max power to four 600 EX-RTs all at max power, it was indeed twice the output; i.e. equivalent to eight 600 EX-RTs!The extra power will not only allow me to use narrower apertures, but now much more freedom to use gels with lower transmission values, and modifiers with multiple diffusion panels.Really like the flexibility of having the detachable stand, though for my usages, I'll also be using that (with C-stands).The modeling light is very bright. Haven't used it yet for video work, but like the ability to control the color temperature.So far, very impressed with Profoto and looking forward to building up my kit with their modifiers and gels.
