Genaray Mini Moon 11" RGB LED Light Panel (2-Light Kit with Stands)

Pancake lights are not for everyone. However, these work very well for me for product photography. This light also is much brighter than similar looking pancake lights on the market. This is probably the best pancake light of its size available.

This is probably the most versatile light I've ever used. Don't let the 11 fool you, this thing is bright as heck, yet soft as well. Super accurate, vibrant colors and just a well thought out design. It doesn't weigh much and it doesn't have fans, but it doesn't get hot. V-mount, NP-F, locking AC wall power. I can't ask for more, it's amazing.

I have the Genaray Minimoon Bi-Color and this one is even better since it has RGB now! Even though they added RGB LEDs, the brightness seems to be the same as the Bicolor one which is surprising. Let me start first saying that it comes with a case. That always puts a smile on my face. It also features a dedicated pocket in the front for the INCLUDED DC adapter. The case is nothing extra padded or fancy but it will protect the light. Powering the Minimoon, not only you can power it via DC adapter and via Sony batteries (not included). Now, adding a choice for V-Mount , not only it is unusual for a light of this size, and a V-Mount battery lasts longer than a Sony, you can power it in 3 ways. Light Output: This little panel outputs an impressive amount of light and it is so well diffused. And you can't see the LEDs. It's a thick diffuser. You can definitely use this panel for key light without adding any extra diffusion in front of this panel, but if you want to, you'll make this light source BIGGER and twice as soft than it already is. The Genaray Minimoon is powerful enough even for photography use, such as portraits, headshots, and everything else that doesn't require the subject to move fast. With a light meter, I included 2 images in this review: At 1 meter | 3 feet away, the meter read f2.8 at ISO 100 and shutter was 1/60s. At ISO 800, it read almost f11 I included six informative images with this review including a subject being lit by the CCT and RGB (just for fun). The light color quality / CCT on people is AMAZING!!!!! All I added was a medium reflector disc at the bottom to fill light under. The Minimoon was placed 45 degrees and above subject's face. Be sure to check it out the pictures included here. Did I mention this panel can range from 2700K to as HIGH AS 10,000K? How about that for flexibility? This panel's got it all. Weight: This panel for being made of plastic, you can easily place it on a Boom and with minimal counterbalance weight. I recommend the Impact Boom Arm (Chrome-plated, 86) which I have. It will hold just about anything you throw at it. Aesthetics: This light is very pretty in the front and back and a catchy detail in yellow on the knobs complimenting the black and the yoke is super elegant and made of METAL. If you are into FX, this light won't disappoint. It has 20 different FX. Remote: This light can be controlled by a remote purchased separately. I say this on every review and I will say it again. A remote control to me is much better and faster than an App. I have an iPhone 14 Promax, which is heavy, expensive, sensitive to impacts on the floor if if falls trying to use with an app in the middle of a rush. Replacing the remote due to fall or if forgotten somewhere which is even worse, is better than a broken phone it it ever fell on set. If you do production for a living full time, must of us, don't have the time for fumbling around with Apps. I I have 3 assistants, not a one man band and we still don't have tome for App control. All my other lights have App and I care less. The Genaray Minimoon is a panel that I always brought the Bi-color version with me especially for hair light and back light and now I will also be bringing this RGB version with me as I always need a hair light for my interviews.

So surprised by the power and quality of this light! Great size for travelling or on location! Incredibly powerful! Can light up a 12x12 room well and evenly! Creates a beautiful shape to the eye! Love the controls. Very easy to use!

The Genaray Mini Moon 11 light is a super portable and flexible lighting solution. I've used this light on a few projects now and my takeaways are this: I'm impressed with the quality of light that this puts out, skin tones were flattering and it has a wide range of color temps so I can match pretty much any scenario It's light and portable You have a plethora of powering options, V-mount, Sony batteries or wall power, I really appreciate having all the options Full RGB light, this light is so versatile that it now comes with on every job, not only can you dial in pretty much any color it has 20 built in preset FX The screen and buttons are easy to read and use Build quality is also good, it's light but at the same time I feel like it'll hold up to a lot of use. DMX always nice to have The light doesn't get super hot even when running it for hours Comes with a pretty decent carrying case Overall I'm really impressed with this light.

I'm very happy with this light. It is impressively bright for its size and cost. This light can really pop. I like this style of round pancake type lights. They give a nice soft light and can be used for a variety of scenarios. In bi-color CCT mode it can effectively be a key light or fill light depending on the scene. And because it is so lightweight, it can also be a great backlight or rim light. I especially like this Genaray Mini Moon because of all its added features and versatility. First, in CCT mode it has a very wide range of Kelvin, 2700k to 10,000K. That is a great range to work with. I love that it has RGB capabilities, which adds to its versatility. And the colors can be set to be very saturated, which is also appreciated. The light has 20 preinstalled lighting effects. And although I do not use the effects very often, it is nice that they are included. Another nice feature is the dimmer goes from 0% to 100% and is flicker free throughout. I've used other lights that would flicker at certain dim settings and/or not dim very low, so the fact this light does so is good. One of my favorite things about this light is its versatility in powering the light. It comes with a provided Ac adapter for plugging into an outlet, but also has the option to use N-PF batteries or v-mount batteries. I absolutely love having this flexibility. I love using NPF batteries because of their ease of use and cost, but it is nice to be able to just put a v-mount on to not have to change out as often. V-Mount is great for a fast-paced shoot and long run times, but having the NPF option for an even lighter set-up or maybe to use it handheld is nice. Having those options is fantastic, I love it. I'm also impressed with the build quality of this light. It is plastic, but it is well made. Yoke is strong and secures tightly in place. And the buttons and controls seem well made. A nice byproduct of this light being plastic is its light weight. This makes it a pleasure to work with. Having used heavy lights for years, I now prefer lighter options. And I don't see any sacrificing of build quality. The light supports DMX-512, RJ45 Input and Output so you can use it with a lighting board if you'd like as well. I also have the remote control that works with this light (RSF-11-R) and am very happy to have it. Especially when it is up on a stand. The remote control allows me to dial in the light right where I'd like it while watching the changes on a monitor. This is very helpful when using this light as a backlight so I can set the intensity or color precisely without having to lower the light. Another addition to this light that I appreciate is the provided case for storage and travel. This is very much appreciated by me. I like to keep my gear in cases to not only keep them safe, but it also keeps all the accessories together, like it's power supply and the remote control I have for it. This way nothing gets lost or forgotten. This might sound insignificant, but I know from past experience it is important. I am very happy with this light and love having it in my light kit.
