Impact Forever Ready Cool 4-LED 2x1 Tube Light Panel

I bought this light for less than €200, and it's performed quite well. It is not as bright as some of the higher end 2x1 panels that cost 3-4 times as much, but that is to be expected. The quality of the light is better than my Yongnuou and Neewer lights. It's also much softer. It does not have much flexibility in terms of adjusting brightness (it can either be 50% or 100%) so that is not ideal. However, if you just need a decent amount of soft light then this works very well.

Not as bright as I had hoped but they do the job. They are heavy. Very nice and sturdy build and stands are very nice.

I'm super happy with this light. It looks like a fluorescent fixture, but it's actually LED lamps. Which means you get the best of both worlds as it provides the consistent soft light you'd expect from a fluorescent, but all the benefits of an LED. Much longer lasting, more energy efficient, more rugged, no flicker etc.. as compared to a fluorescent. Which makes this a big win/win. If you look at the picture I uploaded, showing the light on a cyc wall, you can see clearly how soft and flooded this light is when the barn doors are wide open. Which is great for lighting a backdrop or chroma key wall. This light is perfect for a soft key light on a subject as well. I love how bright it is with all of the bulbs turned on, but still nice and soft. This is great when you need a lot of punch, but also works well if you want to add some more diffusion to make it even softer. Because of the silver on the barndoors, when you add diffusion on front it almost acts like a little softbox giving off a very flattering light. And much easier/faster to set-up. You can also turn off 2 of the bulbs for 50% output if all four are too much. As far as build quality, I'm impressed. Almost entirely metal, but still very light and easier to maneuver. I love having barn doors to help control the light and having them silver on the inside helps increase the output. It comes with a nice long power cable, which I appreciate, and does not have an ac adapter box to deal with. Sturdy yoke, and the knobs feel good in the hand and tighten down the light sufficiently. It's listed as flicker-free and I can vouch that I witnessed no sign of flickering at all. Overall, I'm happy with this light, especially at this price point. It's going to be a great addition to my lighting kit.

My review will be a bit different than the other users, but I believe it will be very useful to you if you shoot weddings, interviews, or want to use this panel outdoors. This light happens to be the perfect panel for outdoors besides studio use, which it also excels. Before I continue, some folks might think this is a fluorescent fixture as just mentioned by another reviewer, but to clarify, this is an LED fixture, not fluorescent. The shape of the bulbs and how similar it connects to the fixture, it looks identically like a fluorescent unit. Most lights I have are sometimes on the heavy side and too fragile for some less than ideal scenarios or applications. The Forever Ready Cool was indeed an interesting piece to test. The Forever Ready Cool LED light is extremely lightweight, it literally weighs nothing! That was a PLUS to me from the moment I picked up the box. My wife who is (5'4") under 110lbs can hold this panel upside down by the yoke using only her thumb and index finger. Also, its simplicity of just featuring 2 analog switches on top like a desk lamp. And that's about...it! Both switches on, will be a full power, an exact 82 watts of lighting blast, or choose just one switch on for 50% power at 34.1 watts. You'll find yourself using it at 50% often as it has a lot of power, even shooting at f4, ISO 100. Just in case you ask, can you use a dimmer? No. I tested it. The LEDs are non dimmable. Powering options for outdoors: You just plug it in using a proper 3 prong extension cord, either via a home AC outlet, patio outlets, or even via an AC 300 watt pure sine wave portable PowerBank, then flip a switch, or two! Yes, you can power it in the field. Do NOT use any power bank that's not rated as "Pure Sine Wave". My favorite thing about this light, is that, its 4 LED bulbs not only they are REPLACEABLE, but are also tightly sealed and nothing gets in, such as dust, pesky bugs during humid summer days, especially if you're filming using it outdoors, at sunset, or even worse, at NIGHT. To clean off bugs, unplug, then, carefully and slowly remove the 4 lamps, wipe them gently with alcohol in a cloth, clean the panel's mirror finish materials with a soft cloth embedded with water and mild detergent... insert the bulbs back....Done! On the Forever Ready Cool LED light, there are no fans, no complex delicate LED panels, menus, LCD displays, nothing that could get damaged by insects, and it is POWERFUL to use with daylight, placed near the talent! Plus, its LEDs do not generate high heat to burn bugs in. COB chip LEDs DO! I have rejected jobs that require night lighting because of that. Winter or Fall, no problem. I had two COB lights that were severely damaged by insects. They got on the fan, ruined my COB chip, insects burned on the COB chip, etc. No good... The overall panel construction is not the most robust I've seen, but I think what Impact had in mind was to make a super lightweight unit, and with simplicity and speed. So, on that side, I'll take the lightweight and simplicity and sacrifice robustness. The quality of the actual light photons is excellent and it is powerful. Also great to help shooting bridal preparations by placing the light outside a patio door acting as a main light, having the bride close to the window as you always do. When dealing with cloudy days, or if the house is around several tall trees and doesn't receive enough outdoor lighting. Also don't forget to check out the pictures I enclosed with this review. It shows the light's performance, softness and ways to power it besides an AC outlet. It doesn't come with a case but it fits perfectly inside an empty GVM 50-RS kit case that I had laying around. I can't see another case that this light will fit in that perfect...unless there was a soft case made for it as an optional accessory. Conclusion and Pros: The Impact Forever Ready Cool LED light: -is extremely lightweight, and it's a large light. -very simplistic. Plug in, flip a switch. Done. -powerful enough for many scenarios. -can withstand the outdoors inconveniences. -selectable full power of 50%, quickly! Nothing to dial, no menus. BAM! Cons: overall finish and construction is ok. But in exchange, it gives me the extreme ultra light weight, speed and simplicity! I take that anytime.
