Powerful and Discrete

The Luxli Viola² 5" On-Camera RGB LED Light Panel continues and improves on the tradition of the original Viola. The Viola² features a dimmable output that can be adjusted from either 3000 to 10,000K or 0 to 360° RGB. This is accomplished with 88 individual 5-color LED emitters which provide improved performance over individually dyed (single-die) LEDs. The unit incorporates two clickable, endlessly rotating knobs. Turning one knob controls the flicker-free dimming adjustment from 100 to 0% brightness, while turning the other knob controls the color output of the unit. In addition, the knobs can be clicked to select a function on the fixture. For example, clicking on a knob enables quick switching between 3200 and 5600K when the fixture is in CCT or Filter mode. A new feature allows you to toggle Bluetooth on/off by holding down the menu button.

Useful and functional by itself, the Viola² shines brightest when used in conjunction with the free mobile device app, the Conductor, which allows you to individually control or link together multiple units. With the app, you can adjust the output of the light to match output, CCT, color, saturation, filters, and effects. The app also allows you to sample the color and brightness from a video image, such as a campfire, on your mobile device and have that sample control the brightness and color output of the light. The fixture powers from 7 to 15 VDC via a 2.1mm power port or by the included battery. Mounting is via the built-in 1/4" -20 threaded mounting hole.

Calibration Results

Each Viola² fixture comes with a Photometric datasheet that shows that unit s tested output. This sheet is generated at the factory from testing each light fixture after calibration. The information includes the calibration date, model, and the serial number of the fixture being tested as well as graphic depictions of the fixture s performance in CRI/TLCI versus Kelvin output, deviation from Kelvin across the range, lux across the supported Kelvin range, deviation from Planckian locus (± green shift), color gamut, and beam angle measurement.

Discrete 5-Color LED Emitters

The Viola² s LED emitter design consolidates all five colorsRGBAWinto one emitter. The A and W represent amber at 3000K and white at 5600K. Unlike the original RGBA emitters that must add blue to their amber light to approximate daylight, the Viola² provides a wide variable color temperature range that maintains an average CRI of 95 throughout the entire 3000 to 10,000K range.

RGB Mode

RGB mode allows you to maintain total control of hue and saturation. Dial in nearly any color of the visible spectrum in 1° increments. The Viola² can produce rich, saturated color that s greater than the sRGB color gamut.

CCT Mode

The correlated color temperature (CCT) mode allows you to accurately adjust your color temperature from 3000 to 10,000K while reliably maintaining a minimum of 93 CRI across the entire range. This lets you emulate any lighting condition, from the cool hues of bright sunlight to the warmth of a tungsten bulb or sunset.

Filter Mode

Set your white balance and then select between 150 Lee-equivalent digital gels. Whether you re using technical filters for color correction or creative gels for theatrical effects, the Timpani s filter mode provides a wide variety of customizable color options. It s just like putting a gel in front of the actual light, but without the light loss. Also accessible in the filter mode are Chroma Green and Chroma Blue, for a saturated output to create clean keys.

Effects Mode

You won t need to carry extra gear with you to enhance your video with exciting cinematic effects. The Viola² offers ten preprogrammed special effects. Adjustable parameters let you customize each effect to your specific needs. Whether you re recreating lighting from fireworks, a police car s flashing lights, or a campfire in a mild breeze, the Viola² makes it simple to create realistic lighting effects that will add drama and a dynamic look to your video.

iOS or Android App for Full Color and Lighting Control

The free mobile app gives you full control over brightness and color temperature on your Android or iOS device. The app gives you access to light color control and effects. A standard color picker lets you choose the light color that you want, opening a world of creative lighting possibilities. You can also use your phone s camera to sample colors from the environment around you.

Animated Lighting Effects Library and Sampling

Use the phone app to choose from a library of built-in effects, or sample video effects from an existing video stored on your phone. Simply open a video from within the Conductor app, move the cursor over the light effect you want to sample, and the app will stream that effect straight to your Viola. Sampled light effects are automatically stored in the app s effects library.

Link Multiple Fixtures

Light your object or scene from various angles by using multiple Viola lights. You can link them together via Bluetooth 4.0 LE and control them all simultaneously via the app.

Accessories

The included ball joint cold shoe adapter allows you to mount the light on your camera s cold shoe. An integrated groove around the edge of the fixture is for the Viola softbox with diffuser (not included).

Luxli Softbox with Diffusion Filter for Viola 5" Multicolor On-Camera LED Light

This Softbox with Diffusion Filter is designed and built specifically for your Viola 5" Multicolor On-Camera LED light. The softbox and diffuser allow you to soften the shadow edge of your light fixture. The softbox is a silicone rubber hood that snaps onto your light and features a matte black exterior finish so it is less noticeable on set or location. The matte white interior finish provides a neutral color to any light it helps reflect forward. Once attached, the hood stays securely on your light without blocking access to your light s controls or 1/4" -20 mounting hole.

The hood is collapsible so you don t have to remove it for storage, and you can leave one of the included diffusion filters attached to the hood when collapsed. Completing the softbox is a 40° micro lens diffuser. The filter is rigid, and contoured to fit securely in the hood.

Silicone rubber construction, formfitting, and contoured to fit your fixture without obstruction access to controls or mounting points.

The hood is collapsible for storage without removing the hood from your fixture.

Featuring a raised lip that prevents it from sliding too far onto your light, the hood also features a raised ridge that mates with the groove on your fixture to hold it securely in place.

The hood incorporates a set of small air holes on the top and bottom. These holes allow the hood to expand without creating a vacuum and collapse with a filter in place.

The softbox is comprised of the rubber hood and a 40° filter.
