Profoto Connect Pro Remote for Leica

Works fine, don't have the issue with the knob that others seem to have. Using it to replace the Connect (round one) which is not reliable for me. (Kept changing the power settings when set to manual). This has not had that problem so far. Build seems robust enough and features are pretty much what i need. Much better than trying to control the light settings from a phone app.

As stated, this wheel is a joke. disappointing from a company that really tries to copy Apple's MO with design and packaging. well I never had an iPod with a terrible wheel. Profoto, if you're going to copy Apple, why not copy the quality first, not physical attributes like hard pointy corners? am I being unreasonable?

Works great. Seems to occasionally take a long time to make the Bluetooth connection to my A1X. I am however disappointed I'm back to buying batteries. Seems like you could fit a rechargeable battery in the space where the 3 AAA batteries go. I thought I was done buying batteries; one of the big reasons I bought into the ProFoto system in the first place. The standard Connect is rechargeable and seems like the €400 version should be too.

What I wanted was an iPod Touch ClickWheel that magically controls my Profoto Strobes. What I got was really poor design, inexplicably costing €400. The Scroll Wheel is a joke; it's like scraping silicone against silicone. it feels like a toy

Expensive and a little on the large side, but works well. Obviously the Sony flash connection method is really lame, but that isnt Profotos fault. This production run of the Connect Pro has the wheel stickiness fixed too, so all in all this remote is amazing. I would make sure that if you buy the non Sony remote you check the wheel action and if it sticks, you should wait for the fixed production run.

Right now (2/9/23) the Non-TTL version is still the first batch of the spinning wheel production and is UNUSABLE. I got the brand new Sony TTL version (just released) and the wheel spins perfectly, feels like an amazing remote. So I ordered the Non-TTL as a backup (and for another non Sony Camera) The wheel doesn't move easily, it sticks and would not work on a job to adjust settings. I returned the one and had to return the one directly from the vendor. When I asked Profoto customer service how to get the new production run, they said I have no idea. It's kind of a sell through thing. So if you want to be part of the clearing process, go ahead and buy this item. I will be waiting for them to fix the product to work like the new production run. Seriously poor quality control for a brand that claims to be premium

I was pretty excited for this remote as the power button on my regular connect remote broke and I have to shove a toothpick next to it to keep it firm enough to turn on and off properly, and I didn't want to buy a new one of those when I saw this was coming out soon(which then took what, 3 months for the sony variant to become available?). First thing, this connect pro remote disables live preview. Not a big deal for when I do studio photography, I found a way on youtube to change the AEL button to act as a live preview button when held down so I can check ambient light. But when I'm on location, its been awful as it slows down my shooting technique to have to keep holding down a button to check the ambient light. This is more an issue with sony of course, but I also don't have this issue with the regular connect remote, live preview works fine with that remote for whatever reason. And if you use live preview a lot and are a sony shooter, you should be aware of this. Secondly, as someone else mentioned, this remote is 1 way communication, if you change settings on the light itself, it does not reflect the change on the remote. Minor, but also annoying. Thirdly, the design is nice, but if by chance you ever drop this, it seems it'll break much more easily. It does have a more firm connection to the camera though. I think this remote would be amazing, its just too bad sony disables live preview with this type of remote. I use the older connect remote the most still as it doesn't disable live preview for whatever reason.
