The kit is comprised of one MCD400R 400Ws monolight with an integrated radio receiver that can be triggered wirelessly from the included MRT-16 (16-channel) transmitter. A 3' OctoDome along with a speedring and adapter is included to soften the quality of light. The flash head and OctoDome are supported by the kit's 7' light stand. A Pure Sine Wave ION lithium-ion inverter is included to provide hundreds of full-power flashes to the AC-powered MCD400R monolight in the field.

The 400Ws Matrix recycles to full power in a fast 1.7 seconds with short flash durations that capture even the most fleeting gestures. Power is variable over 6 stops from 1/32 to full power, adjustable on the flash head's digital display in 1/10 stop increments. The bright 150W modeling light can be set to proportional to let you pre-visualize your final shot, a great benefit especially when using multiple light setups. The MCD400R's UV-corrected, user-replaceable flash tube ensures accurate rendition of colors right down to the subtlest of hues. The lifetimes of both the flashtube and modeling lamp are lengthened by the fan cooling in the high-impact polymer head.
The MCD400R comes with a 12' sync cord, but its integrated radio receiver allows wireless triggering even through walls and other obstacles using the included transmitter. Convenience features include soft push button back panel control and a ratcheting tilt handle that ensures precise, secure placement of your flash head. The Matrix MCD400R comes with a 7" reflector and is compatible with a wide range of optional accessories including grids, snoots, parabolic reflectors, softboxes, and umbrellas.

Photogenic Ion Lithium-ion Pure Sine Wave Inverter System
The Photogenic Ion Lithium-ion Pure Sine Wave Inverter System allows you to take your studio strobes on the road or off the road without electricity and without noisy generators or bulky old-style inverters. Weighing in at only 3.5 lb including its battery, the Ion measures only 7.5 x 4.4 x 3.3" but is able to deliver hundreds or even thousands of full power flashes depending on the flash head in use. For example, Photogenic's 1,000W/s PL1000DR gets 300 full power flashes on a fully charged battery while their AKC160 will get a whopping 2,050 flashes from the same battery. Of course, you can double or triple your capacity by simply purchasing extra batteries which can be charged apart from the inverter. Extra chargers are available to charge more than 1 battery concurrently.
Convenience features include a USB port to power computers and other electronic devices and an LED " fuel gauge" that allows you to check on remaining power at a glance. The system includes the ION Inverter, battery, charger, light stand clamp and strap.
Note: flash capacity specs are based on Photogenic flash heads but other brands of flash heads may be used with the inverter. Power input is 100 to 265VAC, 50/60Hz but output is 120V only.
