Setwear Hothand Gloves (Medium)

So it's been 4 months now and so far so good. Haven't had any complaints so far. Definitely helps against hot fixtures. I use these and the arri gloves.

Just got these gloves about a week ago and used them for the first time as a grip this past weekend. We were only using a 1200 Watt Arri HMI and some Kinos, but I didn't feel any heat on the HMI so that was good! As far as the size goes, they fit me perfectly, but I did try on both sizes at.

I just got the hot hand gloves last week and I used them in a production. I needed to move a 5k open face mole light that was on for 1 hour. I tilted it down a little bit using my gloves and they did the job. These gloves worth every penny. Thanks!

The build quality of these gloves is outstanding. You get your money's worth. I placed my hand on a 2k fresnel mole light that was turned off just minutes ago and felt no heat. It was impressive. However, the sizing is completely wrong. I followed the size guide and got a medium. When I put it on it was extremely tight, and even painful in my right hand. I tried to use it for one day to break them in but to no avail. Since they are lightly used from one day of rigorous grip work I can't return them. Setwear should not be putting out misleading size guide and should give more detailed information about the length of the fingers.

When I first got the glove and tried it on, I was a bit concerned about the size. It fit EXTREMELY TIGHT, but I had sized myself correctly via the sizing chart available by SetWear. I figured being leather, the gloves might break in, and in 1-2 days of moderate use as an electrician on a film set, they had broken in beautifully, and fit great! I use them for all sorts of tasks, forming lighting, rigging, labeling, pulling focus, camera operation, you name it! The leather is durable, and they do a great job keeping out heat for working with hot lights. I used them in cold weather in November on a feature film shoot in Minnesota, and although they aren't really warm weather gloves they kept my hands warm enough for the job down to around 35-40 degrees (F). They also actually worked moderately well on my iPhone touch screen! This isn't an advertised feature, but I found that once the gloves had absorbed some of the heat of my hands, I was able to perform simple functions on my phone without removing them, such as taking a photo, activating the flashlight, unlocking the phone, and in some cases typing simple messages, without removing the gloves. Definitely an added bonus, though not 100% reliable in all cases. As for cons, they probably run ever so slightly small, but it doesn't bother me particularly. What does bother me is that the cuff is a bit short and flares out, and the elastic part goes partly around my palm rather than wrist. Not a big deal, but I am used to MechanicsWear gloves that fit tightly around my wrist. Also, I'm not a fan of the logo at all. It's a bit tasteless in my opinion, and doesn't make the gloves very pleasing aesthetically, (the equivalent ARRI gloves are far more stylish) though that isn't a very important factor. Overall I would recommend them, and look forward to years of use in Film and Theatre work!
