Sibley Guides Book: Sibley Birds East (2nd Edition)
Learn how to identify over 650 species of our feathered friends with Sibley Birds East (2nd Edition) from Sibley Guides. This second edition of the Field Guide to Birds of Eastern North America, written and illustrated by David Allen Sibley, focuses on the regions of the continent north of Mexico. It covers states and provinces entirely east of the Rocky Mountains, as well as all of Texas except the Trans-Pecos Big Bend region covered in the Western guide. Information is laid out in a format that is logical and readily understood, so that even beginners will not be overwhelmed and so that everyone will be able to compare birds of the same and different species with ease. Each species has a small map showing the range in summer, winter, and migration. A handy quick index is located at the end of the book for easy reference.
Information and artwork in the volume is taken from the original Sibley Guide to Birds, though the text has been largely rewritten, and there are fewer illustrations used in this smaller book. The biggest text changes are simplified voice descriptions and the addition of a sentence or two describing the general status and habitat of each species. The design of the pages has been altered, as well, with each page now divided into top and bottom halves and the species info fit into that space. Additionally, the maps have been completely revised by a team of over 100 experts from North America organized by Paul Lehman. All this fits into a book small enough to carry in a large pocket and take with you on all your birding adventures.
