This Celestron PowerSeeker 70mm f/10 EQ Refractor Telescope and EclipSmart Solar Filter Kit extends the telescope s capability by adding a filter you can use for safe, detailed observation of a solar eclipse. ISO certified safe, the filter is kept securely in place with three thumbscrews, and affords a brilliant view of this memorable celestial event. Come nightfall, the telescope returns to its core mission of enabling observation of the moon, planets, star clusters, and galaxies.

Celestron PowerSeeker 70mm f/10 EQ Refractor Telescope

Designed for intermediate users, Celestron s is intended to take astronomic observation to the next level by providing a complete set up for viewing the Moon and planets, and brighter deep-sky objects like star clusters and galaxies. Two eyepieces provide 35x and 175x magnifications with a 3x Barlow lens that triples the magnification of each eyepiece for a wider-range of observing possibilities.

Its manual German equatorial mount has precise Right Ascension (RA) and Declination indicators for celestial navigation, and dual slow-motion cables to track your object with accuracy and reduced vibrations. An adjustable-height aluminum tripod provides a stable platform for sky-watching, and the included 90° erect-image diagonal makes looking through the scope more comfortable, especially when aiming the telescope directly overhead. The diagonal s prism corrects images horizontally and vertically, allowing the scope to be used for terrestrial viewing as well.

Celestron EclipSmart White-Light Solar Filter

Purpose-built to fit their 70mm Travel Scope and AZ or EQ PowerSeeker OTA s, the Celestron EclipSmart White-Light Solar Filter easily mounts to the front of the dew shield to convert it into a solar scope for viewing the sun or solar eclipses. The housing is modeled on the original lens cap for a tight fit and is equipped with three thumbscrews to secure it place for additional safety. Made of a proprietary Mylar film, if filters 99.999% of the intense visible light from the sun while blocking 100% of harmful ultraviolet (UV) and infrared (IR) radiation. A push-on cap protects the filter when not in use. This filter conforms to and meets the transmission requirements of ISO 12312-2, Filters for Direct Observation of the Sun, EN 1836:2005 + A1:2007 (E) for an E15 Filter for the Direct Observation of the Sun and, AS/NZS 1338.1:2012, Filters for Eye Protectors.
