Pixii A2572+ Rangefinder Camera (128GB, Matte Black)

First - I wish I knewwas going to sell these because I bought mine direct from Pixii and would have used . Now the camera is definitely different and I didn't want to buy a used M8, M-P, etc... But I down own a used M10-R and wanted to use the lenses on another body. I really love the concept of this camera but it will not suit everyone, so know what you are buying. Its really fun to use, viewfinder and focusing with a variety of lenses has been perfect. I tend to use 21mm or 28mm Voigtlander and TTArtisan lenses to adjust for the crop factor and still shoot wide. There is a learning curve to this, so for me, I had to map the double-tap of the back button to be exposure comp for instance. But it can be many other functions. I do occasionally get strange failures, so you may not want to use this for your critical shots, but for my casual use its fine. The mobile app is good but needs some tweaks. I do like how quickly the pictures transfer on WiFi, plus the firmware and software updates over the air are nice. And when you contact support, you get directly to an actual engineer type, which is really cool. A luxury while the company is small but its so nice for now. So try this if you are curious and do not give up on it if its not a Leica, its just different.

A well thought-out, designed and built-to-last camera for photographers wishing for an analog-type of experience with a very modern rangefinder. And to boot, it's not just firmware updatable but hardware upgradable too, allowing for its usability to be improved over time! Its downside is the lack of choice of wider-angled lenses because of its APS-C-sized sensor, but its image quality is excellent.

I bought mine a few months ago and it has been a pleasure to use. It is my first rangefinder and I am questioning why I didn't buy one earlier. The Things I love - - The sensor and the quality of the pictures - he colours of the pictures - very film like. - The build - The use of it. It is all about taking pictures with nothing to get in the way. No chimping, no messing with options, no missed focusing. Just put it to your eye, focus, shoot and move on to the next picture. Then I love the sitting with a coffee and looking through the day's shooting. I have also had conversations with the Pixii team and to my surprise, the CEO has replied. They are very open to feedback and are eager to learn from users. Can you imagine ever getting emails from the CEO of any other camera company? This is the camera for you if you are interested in a brand new rangefinder that will only get better the longer you own it.

the concept is really very interesting and the quality is there. The device is constantly evolving. It's a purchase that I don't regret.

I didn't buy mine from B+H. I bought it direct from Pixii, who upgraded it twice for me at very reasonable prices, which leads me to the first part of my rating: 1. Upgradeability. The hardware is upgradable. And the price for the upgrades so far has been incredibly reasonable. How many camera/companies do you know doing this? That's 5 stars. 2. Image quality is superb. I am not normally a big fan of APS-C, but the Pixii sensor is super-high-rated by DxO for a reason: it's excellent. And that's true for both color and monochrome. 3. I know some on the net don't love the Pixii's ergonomics. I do. I own a Leica M6 and M11. The Pixii is different but solidly built and feels good in my hands. 4. Rangefinder focusing may not be quite as good as the Leica, but for me (almost 69 years old), it works well. I've had no rangefinder alignment issues. 5. Thorsten Overgaard wrote a piece a little while back in which he posited the idea of an LCD-less digital Leica, and thought it could be the best combination of a digital camera with an analog feel, but without the long wait to see your pics. Guess what? This is it. 6. The Pixii community is very helpful and supportive, with neither faux rangefinder nor Leica snootiness. On the con side, I have mixed feelings about relying solely on internal memory for image storage. It has not failed me, but it is a potential risk. I also generally like the iPhone tethering, but it is not 100% infallible. It also took me a while to get comfortable with the top menu and button interaction. Those are all relatively minor, but they're enough to knock off a star. I like it so much, I gave it to my youngest daughter with a Voigtlander 35. She loves it.

Thousands of dollars for a rangefinder camera that has an usable rangefinder out of the box. Immediately kills the aesthetic of the experience, along with trust in the company.
