Sony a7S III Mirrorless Camera with Battery & Charger Kit

I have been filming my video productions on the A7II, and it is a dream to have even more crisper footage with this camera body. The images are beyond beautiful! If you are a dedicated sony filmmaker, I highly recommend this product. You will not be disappointed with the investment. :)

Bought this camera for freelance video work, including long-ish sit down interviews. While it performs very well for all kinds of shooting (vid and stills) and its small size and weight are major bonuses, it starts to heat up every time I shoot longer than 5 minutes. I thought at first I just received a defective unit and exchanged it for a new one, but the second one heats up way too quick as well. This is a real issue for Sony to resolve on one of their top cameras focused on video. Personally, if you're deciding between this body and another, I'd steer clear of this one until Sony decides to fix the issue.

Mechanically speaking, this camera is a filmmaker's dream. From insane low-light performance to jaw-dropping video quality to features including 120fps 4K UHD and 4:2:2 10-bit video, you would think this camera would be an absolute joy. Unfortunately, that is hindered by the fact that Sony exhibits poor quality control for this particular model. I have been a Sony shooter for several years with both myself and my colleagues having multiple bodies, and none of us have never had as many defective units as with this camera. I only ordered one, but I had to keep exchanging it due to different issues straight out of the box. For the first unit I received, there was a loose power switch. Then for the second unit, it was sent WITHOUT A STRAP in the box. And the third and fourth units both had SD card slots that did not align with the camera body.For a device that costs nearly €4,000 after taxes, this is, simply put, not acceptable. Without these issues, the camera would be an easy five-stars from me, no questions asked. But Sony needs to seriously up their game to ensure that customers are getting the quality they expect when shelling out a hefty sum of money.

We all know how magical this camera is. An impressive quality. I take photos, I am still surprised with their mpx.

Have had the camera for about a month & used a couple times. Image quality is looking good & there are some nice features in the menu that never got implemented in the A7r.One important point, particularly for video shooters --- if you hit record while the camera is not horizontal, the camera will record a vertical video. If hold the camera horizontally, you will see the image as a horizontal image but it will be recorded vertical. You can rotate in camera or in editing but it is THE STUPIDIST feature I've ever seen - particularly because they do NOT provide a way to turn it off.Hopefully one day Sony will figure out how to design a mirrorless camera that works well for video users.Also, if you want to used the HDMI and the camera screen at the same time -- you must make sure HDMI info is off. Again not, sure why we can't output either way but that's how Sony rolls.
