Kodak PIXPRO WPZ2 Digital Camera (Yellow)

Bought this camera in early March 2023 to take down to Belize. Took 2 pictures with it while snorkeling and then it stopped working. Took it back to our room and then it starting cycling on and off making lots of beeping noises. The next day, it was dead. Glad I bought it from cause I know they will refund the money, but no underwater pictures from Belize. This isn't your dad's kodak company. DO NOT BUY DO NOT BUY DO NOT BUY

I had a previous camera similar to this that was made by Nikon. I like this one even more. It is small, compact and durable. I am pretty accident prone with electronics, so it is perfect. My kids are also obsessed with taking photos and I don't have to worry about them dropping my phone. I just hand them this!

Nice piece, dead nuts easy to use, takes decent pictures. Best part is it turns on and is ready to take pictures almost immediately. Worst limitation is hand hold - you have to be a little careful not to block things. Better to have small hands. I say get one and blaze away. And an amazing bit? Humans at customer service that actually answer emails. I just about fell out of my chair when I actually got a response the SAME DAY and they HELPED!

I bought this for its outdoor use and was looking for one under .200. Overall, this camera is good for its price. I did not try it underwater yet, though. Here are some of my comments: Photo image quality is decent. About what I would expect for a point and shoot under .200. Nothing fancy nothing bad. I do wish it had true HDR capabilities. Video image quality is disappointing to me. My much older Canon Elph point and shoot camera that sold for around this price has a more pleasing HD video recording image quality. So does my iPhone. In Auto mode, it will automatically detect which scene you are in, which is good, but you unfortunately have no control over the flash. This really bothers me. You should always have control over the flash. Always! I find the flash can be too harsh, so I put a piece of white duct tape over it as a diffuser. I did not try the camera under water yet. I imagine the stronger flash will be appreciated then. It doesn't have true HDR (or face detect), so when your subject is backlit in Auto mode, it will fire the flash to illuminate the foreground. This often looks harsh, and is the old-school way of doing things (compared to the HDR feature most cellphones have). In the other modes you can play around with some of the settings and control the flash how you want. The HDR feature that it does have seems more like a post production feature that simply brightens the shadows (this takes about 4 seconds per photo). Then it saves the image as a new file at the end of your list of files. Then if you want to scroll to the next photos you took to decide if you want to add the HDR effect to one of those, good luck. You won't be where you left off. If you have 200 photos on your card, and you added the HDR effect to photo number 55, it will save it as 201 and place you there, so if you want to go to photo 56 to check it out, you unfortunately have to click around like a maniac to get from 201 to 56. The more photos on your card the worse this situation becomes. I am hoping a lot of these issues will be fixed in a firmware update, but that is another issue. It seems like the firmware updates are for PC only as I write this in Dec 2022. It has another post production feature that removes red eyes. I haven't actually used that yet. There is also the red-eye reduction flash mode that seems to work well. It accepts Micro SD cards only. I am not really of fan of those, I prefer the easier to handle size of SD cards. It uses wifi instead of bluetooth. I prefer bluetooth, but people can debate about that. The wifi feature works and the app is available for iPhones. I don't think I could download all my images at once though. But, I didn't use the app for long, so I might be wrong. Since the screen does not flip over (which is understandable for this type of camera) there should at least be a mirror on the front of the camera for group selfies / vlogging. The menu system is decent, but not as refined as my older Canon ELPH point and shoot camera in the same price range. I find the screen size a bit small. As I write this in Dec 2022, it seems impossible to get spare batteries. This is big downer. A battery rated at 200 photos is often never enough because lots of things will drain your battery and often you won't get to the 200 photo mark. And sometimes, you need to take more than 200 photos. Having a spare battery is always appreciated. When you push the shutter button half way, the display at the bottom will show you that you your aperture and shutter speed, but the EV display disappears and so does the ISO display. I find that odd. Everything that was displayed at the bottom of the screen should remain there when you start pushing the shutter button. Also, if set to Auto ISO, you never know what ISO the camera selected. Although you can change aspect ratio, there is no 1:1 option. I sometimes like 1:1. In high speed burst mode, the camera can only fire for about 3 seconds, then it will need between 20 to 40 seconds to write to the card. You cannot use the camera while it is writing. I can understand that in the higher resolution setting, but I don't know why it still needs to do that in the lower resolution setting. My much older Canon ELPH point and shoot that sold for the same price point can fire non-stop in low resolution high-speed burst mode. I decided to still keep the camera since for this price it is a good overall outdoor camera. I have other cameras for indoor events.

I bought the WPZ2 to replace my canon elph I carried with my fishing gear for fish photos. The Kodak cost half as much and is waterproof to boot. I like the small size and the photos and videos are good enough for my purposes.

I bought this camera for its underwater feature and it's glass feature. I plan to use it as a spare camera on my upcoming trips. It is small and easy to pack. So far all the test pictures are fine.
