Canon LP-EL Lithium-Ion Battery Pack

Extra batteries are a must for long wedding days, marathon session days or making sure you have plenty of power for that vacation trip!

Could not decide if the cost was worth it but after one event I am hooked. The recycle time was excellent compared to my Speedlight flash. I will see if it continues to work as well for future events. I did buy an extra battery.

I am coming from using a 600 EX-RT using rechargeable Enloop (2500MA) batteries to power it. However, recycle time was cumbersome when shots were taken in consecutive order and the recycle time(s) would leave many images under exposed. Not the case with the EL-1 speedlite and the LP-EL Li-ion battery. Recycle time is almost instantaneous, with the exception of high or full power output, than the recycle time is 0.8 - 1 second. A tremendous improvement over the AA rechargeable cells. Battery life is very good depending of flash output. At full out put you can expect over 300 shots and at reduced power much more. My experience is limited since I have been using the EL-1 for about three weeks. But on average I can get over 500 flashes with mixed power output from a single charge. The instruction manual notes that at minimal power you can expect over 2,000 flashes.
