Metabones Leica R Lens to Sony E-Mount Camera T Adapter II

I've had this for a few weeks using it with my Leica-R glass on a Sony A7RII. It works great, I've had zero issues with it. Plus, I just discovered that the tripod T mount fits Arca quick release heads! Major bonus! I couldn't find this detail in the product description so I thought I'd let people know. I use the whole rig daily as a super high quality webcam. My work colleagues are quite impressed with my cinematic appearance on Zoom!

this is a good adapter. The mating surfaces are not as smooth as the Novoflex adapters, but they are better than most of the less expensive ones.

Easy to mount and detach from both camera and lens, unlike another adapter I own.....not too tight, not too loose, its just right!

This is a solidly made adapter ring and I even like it more than the Novoflex equivalent. ;(I have both.) However, I measured the front/ back flange distance and noticed it is 28.9mm, which is 0.1mm shorter than that required. ;The Novoflex adapter has a similarly shorter distance. While for most lenses this doesn't matter, it matters a lot for floating element lenses (28mm v2) and for ultrawides (eg. 19mm v2). The problems are that the lens distance settings don't match the actual lens barrel markings, and that lenses focus well beyond infinity (eg. you get infinity focus in the finder when the lens barrel only shows 5m).; The imapct of this is that image corners get blurred for Sony-mounted lenses, which on Leica-R film bodies are razor sharp. The solution? ;Shim the mount! ;I did this and now the mount distance is exactly 29.0mm (measured with a precision Vernier Caliper). ;Infinity on the lens barrel is true infiity now and image corners are sharp again. BTW the precision-made Rayqual R->E equivalent adapter (I have this as well) is 29.0mm out of the box. ;Clearly they know something that Metabones (and Novoflex) have missed =)

I already had the Novoflex Leica R to Sony E, but needed a second one so thought I would try the Metabones version. When it arrived I ran a caliper over both the Novo and Meta. Both have ring mount depth of 29.0mm so the infinity focus should be identical (indeed it is). The rear lens opening is slightly different though: 41.0mm for the Meta versus a slightly wider 41.4mm for the Novo. With most lenses this is no problem, but there is a small corner vignetting difference with the 19mm Elmarit-R v2. In use, the Meta does the job. Sturdy and with interior flocking to cut the reflections down (I had to add interior velcro lining to the Novo). The acra-type plate on the is also handy.
