Ice 100 x 150mm Soft-Edge, Hard-Edge, and Reverse-Graduated ND Filter Kit (3-Stop)

EAN: 826635843795

This Ice Graduated ND Filter Kit contains three filters that can be used individually or in various combinations to improve the results of your photography by preventing overexposure. The included filters consist of a soft-edge neutral density filter, a hard-edge neutral density filter, and a reverse-graduated neutral density filter. Constructed from optical glass for clarity as well as color fidelity, each filter is compatible with filter holders that can accommodate filters that are 100mm wide and 2mm thick. For each filter, a plastic case is included for storage and transport.

Graduated neutral density filters can be used to prevent overexposure in specific areas of an image, such as bright skies, while allowing for a normal, unaffected exposure in the other regions of the image. The soft- and hard-edge graduated neutral density filters each reduce the amount of light entering a lens by up to 3 stops. The graduated neutral density filter with a soft-edged line of transition is able to filter the sky while minimizing its effect on the land. It is particularly useful where the transition between sky and foreground is indeterminate, such as images featuring mist, fog, or the tops of trees, while the graduated neutral density filter with a hard-edged line of transition is useful for images that have defined horizon lines.

The reverse-graduated neutral density filter achieves its effect with a band of density above its center region that provides up to a 3-stop reduction in light from entering a lens. This band extends in both vertical directions and tapers to a density that provides an approximately 1-stop reduction in light at the edge above it. Directly below the 3-stop band of density, it tapers to clear, with a hard-edged line of transition before the clear area.

The placement of a 3-stop band of density with a clear area directly below allows the reverse-graduated neutral density filter to match the positioning of the sun when it is at, or immediately above, the horizon. In such instances, the sun can appear closer to the center of an image as opposed to the upper edge, and an increase in brightness is created that is more prominent on both sides of the sun than above it. This pattern of brightness corresponds to the density pattern on the reverse-graduated neutral density filter. The hard-edged line of transition in this reverse-graduated neutral density filter is useful for hard transitions between the sky and land, while the 3-stop to approximately 1-stop gradation is applicable to multiple regions of brightness within the sky.

Ice 100 x 150mm Soft-Edge Graduated ND 0.9 Filter (3-Stop)

  • Compatible with filter holders that can accommodate rectangular filters that are 100mm wide and 2mm thick
  • Darkens bright areas of an image, such as skies, while leaving the remainder of the frame unaffected
  • Provides up to a 3-stop reduction in light in selective areas
  • Soft-edged line of transition between the dense and clear areas
  • Useful for images where the transition between sky and foreground is indeterminate, such as images featuring mist, fog, or the tops of trees
  • Filter does not affect the overall coloration of the image
  • Constructed from optical glass for clarity
  • Non-coated

Ice 100 x 150mm Hard-Edge Graduated ND 0.9 Filter (3-Stop)
  • Compatible with filter holders that can accommodate rectangular filters that are 100mm wide and 2mm thick
  • Darkens bright areas of an image, such as skies, while leaving the remainder of the frame unaffected
  • Provides up to a 3-stop reduction in light in selective areas
  • Hard-edged line of transition between the dense and clear areas
  • Useful for images that feature horizons or any hard transition between the sky and land
  • Filter does not affect the overall coloration of the image
  • Constructed from optical glass for clarity
  • Non-coated

Ice 100 x 150mm Reverse-Graduated ND 0.9 Filter (3-Stop)
  • Compatible with filter holders that can accommodate rectangular filters that are 100mm wide and 2mm thick
  • Effectively darkens bright skies, specifically during a sunrise or sunset, while allowing for a normal, unaffected exposure in the other regions of the image
  • 3-stop band of density that tapers to approximately a 1-stop density at the edge above it, while directly above a clear area
  • Creates a neutral density pattern that matches the positioning of the sun when it is at, or immediately above, the horizon
  • Density pattern corresponds to the brightness pattern of the sun when it appears at or is closer to the horizon as opposed to a higher angle, which creates an increase in brightness that is more prominent on both sides of the sun than above it
  • Hard-edged line of transition between the 3-stop band of density and the clear area below it is useful for hard transitions between the sky and land
  • 3-stop to approximately 1-stop gradation is applicable to multiple regions of brightness within the sky
  • Filter does not affect the overall coloration of the image
  • Constructed from optical glass for clarity
  • Non-coated
