Vello Deluxe Auto Focus Extension Tube Set for Sony E Mount

It does the job, I'm able to get some macro shots. However, it scratch my new camera's mount!!! Shallow ones but still hurts. Beware when try to use it if you care about the mount.

The metal prongs don't stay connected to the camera so the f-stop shows an error on my camera saying it isn't connected. Happens every time I shoot macro. Besides this, I enjoy the product

OK. So, there are a lot of reviews under this product which are either now out of date due to the company listening to complaints or were inaccurate to start. I'll go through the major complaints in a list. 1. No covers for the tubes: The ones I received did have nicely fitting lens and body style covers for either side of the tubes. 2. No case for the tubes: Again, the ones I received had a reasonable neoprene draw string case. 3. Too much play in the tubes: I think that is a matter of personal tolerance, but I will say there is some wiggle between the lens and the body, obviously most noticeable when the full 26mm are on. Barely (if at all) present with a single tube. 100% not so much that I feel concerned using them with €8000 in gear. But if you're looking for a locked down strong connection feel, these will *not* be acceptable for you. 4. Too plastic/cheap: Again, personal preference I guess, but we're talking about incredibly inexpensive and relatively niche tools here. The rings do have metal connections and the electronics do pass through without error between the camera and the lens. I would be irritated if I spent €200 on these or whatever. For under €100, they're fine. Again, I have zero qualms using these with ultra expensive gear. I'm not putting a lot of torque on them, of course, but they don't feel like they're going to spontaneously shatter either. All in all, for the price, they're hard to beat. No light leak, sturdy enough to not clench over, electronics work, and perhaps most importantly, they do what they're supposed to. Also, do keep in mind the diminishing returns of tubes with longer focal length lenses, macro or not. These are magic with wide to standard lenses, less of an obvious change with the 90mm (Sony) or 100mm (Rokkor and Pentax MF) macros.

I can use these to take macro photos, but there is no joy in the process. I will be looking for a macro lens soon.

The Sony 90 mm just didn't get close enough for what I wanted to capture. First day out, using the 90 mm with the Vello extension tubes attached, I got a slew of great shots.
