LensCoat Lens Cover for Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 500mm f/4E FL ED VR Lens (Black)

Most of you know what these are, but I wanted to add a review specifically for the 500FL lens coat. It does what is says it does and it protects the lens, but it could be better. Most pieces have the sewing or sticking on the bottom so the lens coat looks proper. Yet the piece that goes over the lens foot and collar area is opposite and on top where it shows. Besides that little weird flaw, the piece closest to lens mount is not cut properly and the hole for the lenses memory recall button is off. So you either have to make it bigger or fumble around looking for it, and I use that often. All in all it's great and it helps protect the lens and your investment, making resale value higher. Worth it, but I'm not impressed with the manufacturing errors. Another is the buttons, this covers all buttons. You can cut the window out, but the front most piece covers the four lens function buttons. Unbelievable really, so many flaws! Guess they don't have a 500mm FL for testing the fit and finish or someone screwed up!

I didn't even have to put the full thing on to realize it didn't fit the Nikon 500 f4 correctly. I looked at the manufacture item number at least a dozen times but the one that was noted that I needed did not fit. The part that is suppose to go over the lens foot has the hole for the knob next to the foot but the knob is on the opposite side of the lens. No it doesn't change it rotates with the collar. What a colossal waste of time.

Top quality as expected from LensCoat. Purchased for Nikon 500mm f/4 E VR. Once I removed the foot from the lens, installation was a breeze. Camo pattern is great, and protecting the lens from wear and tear is important to me. It fit like a glove and there's no slippage with any of the individual pieces. I've purchased several and have never been disappointed.

The cover is made of high quality materials and well manufactured. Installation on the Nikon 500mm f/4 required removing the lens foot. After that, installation was a breeze. The camo pattern will help me stay covert for wildlife photography. One extra benefit is the protection this cover will offer, including potential resale value.

I purchased this coat for my 500mm f/4 lens and it fit perfectly. It was a little tight to install over some pieces but that was to be expected if you want it to fit properly. Over all an excellent cover and thick enough to provide protection for your lens.

The LensCoat lens cover fits well on my Nikon 500 mm lens and should provide protection against scratches, etc.; I may decide to remove the cover piece on the focusing ring because manual focusing seems easier without that piece installed.; Still trying to decide on whether to remove or not.; The 100 price tag does, however, seem outrageous for a few pieces of specially fitted material.; But I guess that's what one has to pay if you want it.; I based the mid-level rating because of the high price.
