FUJIFILM GF 55mm f/1.7R WR Lens (FUJIFILM G)

Using this on an GFX100ii, and the first thing that stands out is the rather loud dc motor. Loud enough that you could definitely hear it in a quiet room. If the motor has to change focus from a close to far object, it makes a moderately loud grinding noise similar to a mid 2000 HP inkjet printer when rolling out a printed paper. This is especially obvious when turning the camera on and off. It also makes a honking noise(?) that also vibrates the body when trying to acquire focus. When using it in manual mode, it will make awkward put-put-put sounds. Not as loud as the grinding, and not as noticeable in a quiet room, but it's there. AF speed is relatively average at best. I think it was a bad idea for Fujifilm to advertise this lens with the 100ii when one of the 100ii's main attractions is improved autofocus! It will occasionally pulse back and forth when acquiring focus. Moving objects has a relatively low hit rate, but for slower (walking) subjects the AF is generally fine. When images are in focus the results are incredibly beautiful! Lovely Bokeh, Haven't noticed much aberrations, vignetting, or distortion, and it's extremely sharp! Weight and size fits well with the 100ii, a little chunky but fits well in hand, excellent build quality. If Fujifilm released this in a revised version with Linear Motors, I would sell this one and buy that in a heartbeat! Pros: -Extremely sharp -Very little aberrations -Very little vignetting -Very little distortion -Well built feeling and perfect tactile aperture ring -Weight is just at the limit of daily carry for me -Lens hood not as huge as 80mm or 110mm -1.7 aperture very sharp for areas in focus Cons: -Autofocus slow and loud.
