The lens's optical design incorporates two aspherical elements, two HR elements, and three ED glass elements, which together provide contrast-rich imagery with minimized flare and ghosting. The STM motor within the lens minimizes focus breathing and creates fast and quiet autofocus, which greatly benefits video applications.
