Hoodman 1TB Steel CFexpress Type B Memory Card

Unless Canon implements a firmware for this specific card, you will end up with Stopped Recording: Slow Card Speed errors. I'm not sure why, as it seems the speeds are fine. Hopefully a bug that gets worked out. Nonetheless, they do not work current in the R5.

I have two Hoodman 128GB Steel CFexpress Type B Memory Card's. One is working very well. Unfortunately, the second Hoodman 128GB CFexpress card has failed. I have tried reformatting the card. This did not recover the functionality of the card. When the Card is in my D850 I receive an error message, and cannot shoot any images.

Functions as advertised, handling video recording speeds from my new Canon EOS R5 without the issues that others have mentioned with other vendors cards.

Got this card from the local camera shop that I worked with to get the R5 at launch and was expecting it to perform well considering the specs. Not sure what is going on because I can only get a burst of 57 RAW images in 6 seconds before it runs into the buffer and pretty much stops. Then the camera will sit there for almost 30 seconds while it writes the rest of the files to the card. When I put it a Sony TOUGH CFExpress 128gb card with only 80mbs faster write speed I was able to hold down the shutter and get 322 RAW images in 36 seconds. I didn't even hit the buffer so I stopped because it didn't look like it was slowing down AT ALL. The camera was also done writing all of the files to the card pretty much instantly. I don't know what the issue is or where it pays but spend the extra €10-20 for the Sony TOUGH card and you will NOT regret it. I don't usually write negative reviews but I'm a full time professional photojournalist in DC where our opportunities to get a photo are sometimes only 30 seconds long and in the past two weeks this card caused me to miss shots because it couldn't keep up with the R5 even though on paper it should.
