Gossen Digiflash Light Meter 2

On my 2nd (1st one died after 4 years of heavy use). The size & functionality are great if you prefer the EV system. Main drawback is that it's plastic & not the most durable under heavy use.

Gossen's Digiflash Light meter is divided into good rating and bad rating. it seems that the degree of perfection of the product has increased, and it can measure light stably. The good thing about this meter is that it's one of the smallest battery-powered meters you've ever had, and it's surprising that it has the sun light and flash light metering capabilities in it, and is accurate.

Love the size, weight, and accuracy. It's a great meter for those who tend to travel light with one camera and a single film speed at a time. Just hang it around your neck or slip it in a pocket and it's always ready. If you need to switch iso often though it's a bit of a pain (especially if you need to work quietly) since you have to hold down the mode button for several seconds (until it responds with a loud *beeeeeeep*) cycle through iso speeds with the other button, and then hold down the mode button for a few seconds until it beeps again. If you want to go from iso 160 to 100 you have to click cycle through every single iso up to 3200 and up to 100 in 1/3 stops. You can hold the button down to cycle quickly, but if you go past your target you have to cycle through again. It doesn't turn off, but I see that as a positive-you never have to turn it on before use and never have to worry about forgetting to turn it off. You just need to take precautions to make sure that the metering button doesn't get pressed/held in your camera bag or else the battery will drain. I used a bit of black Sugru (amazing moldable silicone putty) to make a raised bump between the buttons and haven't had any issues with battery drain or mode switching since. Also, it's good to note that the iso range only goes to 3200 and the shutter speed are only labeled up to 1/1000, though there is space after 1000 where you could scribe in (or just imagine) more speeds if you wanted to.

If you use a film camera, you should definitely buy it. You can reproduce a simple zone system, and it is wonderful to be able to measure from sunlight to strobe light with this size.
