LanParte Cable Adapter for Panasonic DMW-XLR1 Microphone Adapter

I was excited to try and use this! The pictures are very deceptive and the cable really isn't that long. The quality of the product is fairly cheap as well....Darn it. It's a Fail.

On the BGH1: no power to the DMW-XLR1 and thus no signal from it. Also: the one 1/4-20 threaded hole isn't a great idea: it allows the device to spin, which is suboptimal.

So far I've had no issues with the functionality. It lets you move the DMWXLR1. But it has some issues: 1) The locking pin doesn't go down far enough and the male part of the adapter doesn't lock onto the camera that well. You close the locking switch, but you can still slide it off without unlocking it. I had to add a silicone spacer inside that part to get it to go down far enough. 2) The receiver hot shoe part is too tall. It seems like they just took an off-the-shelf hot shoe flash adapter and turned it into this adapter. It will take some maneuvering to get the DMWXLR1 onto it, but it does get on. But you can't do a smooth sliding action. 3) Like others have said, it also would have been nice to have a shoe male adapter on the receiver end so you could add it to an existing extra cold shoe. As it stands now you'll have to add your own cold shoe adapter to the single 1/4 20 screw thread. 4) The cable is coiled but does not stretch that well. I wouldn't recommend putting your DMWXLR1 more than 6 inches away from your camera's hot shoe. Like I said, it works. I'm keeping it. But there are hardly any reviews of this so hopefully this helps someone.

Nice way to relocate the XLR1 unit but they should have put a cold shoe foot on the end that mounts to the XLR unit. Its got a threaded hole instead which works but is not ideal. Other than that it seems well made.
