The Git-Lite filled Kinesis SafariSack 4.2, in black, is a U-shaped bean bag for supporting a DSLR, mirrorless, or video camera on surfaces such as the ground, a car door (with the window open), a chair, a table, or a tree limb. It is quicker to use than a tripod. The bag has a zippered compartment packed with a lightweight filler called Git-Lite. Git-Lite provides better support than Kinesis buckwheat hulls yet has half the weight of poly. It was originally designed for tactical (rifle) shooting bags. The SafariSack 7.3 can be used in multiple modes, as described in the features section below.
The SafariSack 7.3 is made from a combination of 400-denier and 420-denier Diamond Ripstop nylon fabrics. These tough fabrics are supplemented by SlipNot, a rubberized-type fabric. The top of the sack has a pair of sewn-in carry straps with a quick release buckle. They are very short, so they don t get in the way. Also, a separately sold Kinesis Y208 quick-release extender strap can be clipped to the hand straps of the bag to be used as a shoulder strap, or in order to use it as longer tie down when securing the bag to the top of a vehicle, such as a roof rack.
The SafariSack 7.3 also has MOLLE-style webbing slots on the side of the legs for securing an optional pouch where you can keep small lenses or other accessories.
Use Modes
Feet Down
The feet can rest on a horizontal surface, or you can set them over the edge of a partially raised vehicle window.
Feet Down with Ball Head Support
The top surface of the sack is round and supports optional support products such as the Kirk Low Angle Pod or the NatureScapes Skimmer Ground Pod. You can then mount a ball head on top. A pair of optional Kinesis Y208 extender straps is required to wrap around the ball head and secure it in place.
Other Supported 3rd-Party Products
Other products that can be used in combination with the SafariSack 7.3 include the Lowel V-Pod, the Lowel Big Foot, the Playtpod Ultra Plate, and the Kessler Multi-Angle Cheese Plate. Some of them have a 1/4 -20 thread and may require a 3/8 -16 adapter.
Feet Up (Upside-Down)
This mode can be used in two ways. One is with the camera in between the legs. The camera is snugly cradled with the flat part of the sack down. The other way is with the camera on top of the bottoms of the feet.
