The TA-2-QC from Really Right Stuff is a variable, rapid center column that can be added to Versa Series 2 tripods in order to increase their versatility and maximum height.
The process of installing the column is simple, just remove the tripod s original base-plate, mount the center column in its place, and then reattach the base-plate to the top of the center column. Installation is so simple that removing the column is just as easy. If you re traveling and need to reduce your tripod s weight, or need to utilize your tripod s minimum working height, just take out the center column and reattach the base-plate in its original position.
In terms of technical specifications, the TA-2-QC features a native length of 12.3" and weighs just 9.1 oz. When attached to a tripod it provides 9.4" of total travel distance from lowest position to highest position. A threaded mount on the bottom of the column retains the use of the ballast hook which may be reattached from the base-plate after the column is installed.
