MeFOTO BackPacker S Aluminum Travel Tripod (Titanium)

I just got back from my first use of the MeFOTO BackPacker S Travel Tripod and lo and behold, there was an email from inviting me to write a review! When I'm out hiking I travel light. One camera, no more than 2 lenses, and almost NEVER bring a tripod. If I have a backpack with me, it's a regular backpack, not a photo backpack. The MeFOTO is compact and lightweight. It fits nicely in my backpack along with one extra lens. I like the bag it comes in too, if I don't have a backpack with me the dual straps on the bag enable me to carry the tripod like a backpack, and you barely notice you're carrying anything. My first use of the tripod was on a hike up Maryland Heights to take photos of Harpers Ferry. This tripod is perfect for me. Sets up quickly, and is plenty sturdy for use with my Canon RP. Worked very nicely for a 3 shot panorama of the town. I also like the fact that the tripod can be used as a monopod.

My BackPacker is so light and compact, yet so usable. Since I'm in a wheelchair for a majority of my shots it isn't really practical to use a tri-pod much of the time. The versatility of being able to turn my BackPacker into a Monopod is SO helpful, and makes those shots much easier.

The first thing to keep in mind, this is a light (almost ultralight) and compact travel tripod. It will fit inside a daypack or in many water bottle holders on hiking style packs. It's about the diameter of a 32oz Nalgene bottle when folded and about 1.5 times as long. It's not as light as a carbon fiber tripod, but it's light, I've carried it on multi-mile dayhikes and it was fine. It's not super stable when fully extended. Keep in mind it's a light tripod. When I use it with a GoPro it's no big deal. With a Panasonic G85 and 12-35mm zoom lens it's OK but I wouldn't try a long exposure. If you don't extend the center column you end up with a waist-ish height tripod that is far more stable. Who is this for? Someone who uses a lightweight camera rig (micro 43 or aps-c) and need a lightweight tripod for hiking or travel. It will also easily. hold a cell phone or GoPro, so useful for vloggers or as a second camera. With all that said, this is not a heavy-duty tripod by any means. It seems well made, but it's designed to carry a heavy full frame dslr and heavy zoom lens. You will be unhappy if you try to use it for that purpose and you're going to want to look for a different camera. For my purpose (landscape photography, time-lapse with a gopro) it works fine. I did buy it on sale, and it's a steal for €50 or less.

Needed a lightweight tripod for hiking and travel. This fits the bill nicely! The detachable monopod is a plus. Folds down and fits into the provided carry bag. Very happy with this purchase!

I love this little tripod. It is amazingly stable for how light weight it is. Very easy to set up quickly and helps me get the photo I'm looking for. I also have a heavy duty Manfrotto, but I find that I often just grab this travel tripod.

Very nice light weight tripod ideal for travel and backpacking, it fits nicely into the side pocket of my camera backpack. Sure there are lighter and sturdier tripods on the market, this one is tough to beat for the budget minder photographer.
