Shimoda Designs Explore V2 35 Backpack Starter Kit (Large DSLR V2 Core Unit Modular Camera Insert)

I really wanted to like this bag, but there were a couple of shortcomings I couldn't look past and ended up returning it. Long story short, I went to the Peak Design 45L travel backpack and am much happier.The Shimoda had a couple major problems. It claims to hold a 16 Apple Silicon MacBook Pro. This claim is so contested that the designer himself had to put out a YouTube video showing that it works... It's a tight fit. You would think the laptop has further down to go, but it's almost as if it bottoms out too early. As a result, the door doesn't close unless you manipulate the zipper out of the way, and the designer admits just as much in the video. I saw my MacBook Pro getting scratched by the zipper and the overall hassle, so this was a non-starter.Second, the cube dividers are unforgiving. I spent probably two hours trying to place the dividers in a way that would hold my mirrorless setup. Lots of peeling up, replacing, not quite right, try again. It took me 30 minutes to setup with Peak Design. The key difference is in the bottom Velcro on the divider. While this bottom Velcro makes for a stronger compartment, the reality is setup is a massive headache.Lack of mirrorless cubes standard, bag is too big for mirrorless cubes. Seems like an oversight, especially since all of the major camera manufacturers are moving to mirrorless.The straps get in the way and are stiff. I had a hard time reaching the compartments on the waist strap while wearing it. I wish the included waist strap was adjustable in girth, but you'll need to purchase a different one for that capability.The pouch on the shoulder strap just BARELY fits the iPhone Pro Max. You need a really slim case, and even then I couldn't visualize myself really using it anyway because it was tight getting it in and out of the pouch.
