Pentax DSLR Leather Hand Strap

I bought a Pentax strap figuring it would have the best fit for my Pentax K-1 camera. Perhaps this problem is unique to the K-1 but the lip on the bottom strap cinches down and could damage the LCD on the K-1. I took care of that by modifying it with a pliers to snap off the lip and round off the sharp edges. Still, the bottom strap covers the battery compartment so I need to loosen then swivel the plate out of the way to remove the battery. Also has an odd design which has part of the strap in-between my hand and the camera.

Cheaper hand straps I've tried (the ones with the single skinny web strap and little plastic slider buckle) are finicky to adjust and usually don't hold an adjustment. As mentioned in other reviews, this unit with no instructions takes a bit of pondering to figure out the installation and operation of it. Once I did that though I was amazed how ingenious the design is and how (almost) perfectly it works. (Hint: your hand should be inserted between the padded and unpadded straps. Unpadded strap should be back around the heel of your thumb when tightening) People who complain about it limiting their hand movement for operating controls are probably adjusting it too tight. I will, even when somewhat loose, let you relax your grip without the camera falling out of your hand. For holsters (or sling-type bags with a holster-like pocket for the camera) a grip strap is the way to go.
