Cotton Carrier CCS G3 Strapshot (Gray)

I bought this carrier to put my Nikon Z6II on my pack and it works great. It's secure, out of the way and easy to get on and off. It's really nice for hiking.

This is exactly what I needed! I'm a nature photog (mostly wildlife) and frequently hike into areas. I move this back and forth between my daypack and overnight pack and it works well carrying my Canon R5 with everything from the little 16mm up to the 100-500. I haven't tried it with the big 500mm prime, but I suspect it wouldn't work well - not because the Strapshot couldn't handle it, but more because the weight would drag at the one side of the pack pulling things off kilter. Along those lines, the pack you use needs to be able to support the weight of the kit you're carrying. When I used a lightweight backpack with nothing in it there wasn't enough heft to support the R5 and 100-500 and it was awkward. But when I use Lowpro Fastpack 250 with a couple lenses, snacks, water, etc it carries the R5 and 100-500 fine. The same when I'm out for a couple nights in the backcountry - the big backpack full of gear handles the weight of the camera and lens fine. And it's SO much better than a strap - the set up is snug to the body and I have with it coming out. I've used it enough now that stowing and removing the camera is pretty easy and the safety strap is secure (I've given it a few sharp tugs to test) so I feel comfortable scrambling around. I'm so happy with it that I've purchased a second to use with my tripod.

I was looking for a good way to have fast access to my camera and still keeping it safe while hiking and traveling. This device allows me to carry the camera clipped to the shoulder strap of my sling bag (a Thinktank Turnstyle 20 v. 2) and also works on the shoulder straps of my bigger backpack. The carrier attaches securely to backpack strap with a built-in adjustable webbed strap on the top of the carrier (which is barely visible in the photos). The web strap is threaded through an accessory buckle on the backpack straps. The rear velcro portion goes around the back of the strap to hold it secure. The camera stays clipped in the mount unless you rotate it and then you can lift it up and out. Everything is secure and the camera is safe from accidental drops with the safety tether. I'm using it with a small and light camera (Panasonic LX-100 v2) and it works great. I've also tried it with my Nikon D7200 with a Nikon AF-S 16-80mm f2.8-4 (which weighs over 2.5 lbs) and the Cotton Carrier on the backpack can safely handle the weight. However, the sling bag rotates on my shoulder due to the weight. I chose this over the Peak Design Capture Clip because the Cotton Carrier can handle wider straps.

I needed something to carry my camera with a 30L Gregory backpack where the straps are too wide for the other popular clip options. This works well because it's wide and has Velcro that can adjust to most any size strap. Holds my Canon 5DmkIV with 24-105L lens without any issues at all. The included handstrap is worthless for full size DSLR cameras (so, minus 1 star). Too small to use. However, the bottom side tether of the handstrap, that has the rubber washer on one end, can be removed and I used it to attach to the included safety strap so I didn't have to keep threading and unthreading the safety strap from the camera strap eye on the camera. The tether and safety strap can hold this camera and lens combo without any problems.
