RucPac Dual Camera Strap (Black)

Out of the package, it seemed a bit lite for carrying two heavy bodies, but after adjusting the straps it works well. Basic, no frills, decent harness.

Thought I'd try this, as I really find having two cross body straps uncomfortable. This sorts that problem out nicely. Comfortable to wear. Took me a bit to sort out the setup (and I wish all the camera strap makers could please decide on a quick clip system to be used by all) but works well, and is so much better than two separate straps.

I retrieve my previous one star rating and update it to a 4 star rating. After contacting the manufacturer representative I learned that there is a better way to connect Canon cameras to the dual strap. I removed the triangular connectors and use the end of the strap to connect the cameras as done with Canon straps. It works just as good with a very secure connection. The manufacturer is working on updating the instructions to avoid this misconception.

I'm not a very large person, and it took a while to adjust the straps to work for me. I walked around with a Nikon D90 with a Sigma 8-16mm lens on one side, and a Nikon D700 with an 80-200/2.8 on the other. It's quite comfortable, and distributes the weight nicely. Once you clinch down the strap brake, the cameras don't swing around much, but the system is probably not going to be good enough for situations involving running. The single-point suspension means that the cameras can spin around. At least once, a lens bounced against my leg as I was walking, and the lens cap got knocked off. During most events where you use this, you probably won't have the caps on anyway. I have to admit, the single clip holding all that gear made me kind of nervous. It seems sturdy, but I don't like having a single point of failure. I understand other brands have a safety retainer that goes to the tripod screw as a backup. I do like that idea, although I also like being able to leave a tripod plate on the camera while using it in this rig. The dual strap can be unclipped to split it into two single camera straps.

I hope RucPac is reading these reviews, because they need to provide detailed instructions/YouTube video on how to correctly set-up and take advantage of the features of this dual camera strap. Absolutely no instructions were included, and their website provided no (zero) clarity either. Like assembling a new puzzle, I spent a couple hours of trial and error, messing around with what I thought was the correct set-up. I'm still not sure if I optimally set it up. And, what do all these clips do, anyway. Other than the challenge of determining if I'm smarter than a fifth-grader, the harness seems to be well-made and suitable for occasional use with my two Canon EOS R cameras and varying sizes of lenses. And, the three button quick release (POM) pinch clips on this strap are interchangeable with my other RucPac camera straps (very convenient).
