Pelican Vault V550WD Case with Padded Dividers (Gray, 37L)

Got this case as a solution for a few of my ring rigs. Built like a tank and the dividers seem to provide ample padding. I've also been using it to pack cameras and lenses. Solid and rugged case for sure!

I'm storing 2 Godox AD600's in the case. It's obviously not the same quality as a regular Pelican case, but it's definitely sufficient protection for most equipment. I got the regular black foam and I custom cut it to my needs. If you like to put stickers on your cases, the exterior of this case doesn't seem to accept stickers. It's sort of slippery? That also means it doesn't stack well on other cases. It will slide off. Not sure what's going on there, but it's protective of most impacts and that's what matters most.

only ONE reason I am giving this 4 stars and it its in the details. First off, the shipping was QUICK! I could not complain about the handling of this order. Now, let's talk about the case itself. The outer shell is very sturdy and clean looking. It has some roughness to it but not enough to hurt you. In fact, I am going to cover it in stickers just so you know! The VAULT by Pelican metal-like label on the edge by the handle makes this case look menacing (or inviting if you are a criminal). The big sticker on the main flap can come off really easily, its ugly and I didn't want it there so I took it down. The locks are VERY strong and very secure, you have to push the button the latch, then pull up and out to open, not once or twice but 4 times! GREAT Security! The inside, and thats where Pelican lost a star, was not easy to put together. In fact, the instructions were not easy to follow. The velcro is VERY strong, so strong that if not careful WILL tear the orange felt, so please be careful when putting the inside padding together. The padding itself is very well made. They are thick, soft and protect your equipment very well. It does carries ALOT of equipment. I managed to put 2 Canon bodies with vertical grips attached and they covered from top to bottom safely! I also have a 70-200, 24-70, 24-105, 50mm 1.8, and 100mm macro lenses. Also 3 Flashes, Light Meter, Memory Card holder, and a lot of Misc. items as seen in the photo. YES, massive room! Here comes another bad thing.. after all that added, the Vault is HEAVY! I really wish it had wheels. Might have to move back to the Pelican 1510 or Apache 5800. It does have loops for strap, might look into that. Final Verdict: Why are you still reading this.. GO get it... and enjoy! Am I wrong, maybe... but for me... I love it!

I use it to organize my photo gear that is not used as often - like remote shutter, flash and other extras.

I recently purchased the Pelican Vault V550 case for photo and video equipment and I'm glad I did. Pelican has always made great products and the Vault series is no exception. I already have a smaller version of this case for astronomy equipment like eyepieces, Telrad, etc. The main points I like: - The cushioned dividers that you can arrange as you need. Instead of pluck foam, it's clean and variable in arrangement. This case has a good amount of depth and can hold a lot of items. Because of the matrix of dividers, you don't have to fill the case to have items secured. They are contained in their smaller space. - The push-button unlocking mechanism is really great. It takes no effort to open, has an absolute positive lock and also won't open by mistake. I have an older case from another manufacturer that is rugged, but has the knuckle-buster type of latches. You have to use a lot of force to open or close them. Not great if you don't want to damage your hands. - The handle is curved and wide to fit hands properly and snaps down flat with the case so it's not sticking out in storage or packing a vehicle and getting in the way. - The case itself is heavy-duty and should withstand any abuse. I have not received any compensation nor benefit in writing this review. I am a picky person when it deals with care of equipment. I would recommend this case, or other sizes of this style, to anyone.

These cases are just the right size. Adjustable foam dividers offer flexibility. The case is solid and the latches seem to be very strong.

This is one of those why didn't I do this sooner? moments. The case feels robust enough to stand up to most reasonable transport demands and probably way beyond what I would intentionally subject it to. That it doubles as a dust-proof storage and organization solution is an added bonus. I've fitted two camera bodies (a7Rv + a7IV) a 70-200 GM ii (laid flat with tripod foot attached) and the following lenses in an upright position - 24-70 GM ii, Sigma 14-24, 35mm GM, 50mm GM, 85mm GM, Laowa 12mm with Magic Shift adapter (incl. tripod foot) attached a 1.4 TC plus other bits like my Hahnel PROCUBE2 Charger, Haida Rear Lens ND Filter Kit (for the Sigma), four spare NP-1000 batteries, Remote shutter release and a other bits and pieces like a few Lenspens, Memory card wallet... so... a lot basically. Planning on buying another one specifically for other bits of ancillary gear that make up my kit that invariably end up in sub-optimal storage solutions or end up getting misplaced causing frustration when I need to find them.
