Barber Shop Small Messenger Pageboy Camera Bag (Blue Canvas & Brown Leather)

This purchase was my first experience with this brand and company. Upon receiving the Pageboy, I noticed a couple of key issues right away that could determine whether this bag was a keeper or not. One issue still exists; however, the other issue I later deemed not as important. The overall bag is incredible. The stitching and components (leather, fabric (tweed) and liner) are all blended together. The fit and finish of this bag is superb. Someone put a lot of thought into this design. Yes, a lot of people will presume it's a Billingham clone -- but the Pageboy has a unique personality of its own -- and that's why I'm keeping it. The bag comes with (3) dividers so there's a few ways to sort your camera gear. This bag will easily hold a rangefinder system or a mirrorless system with 2-3 lenses. I'm using it with my Leica M240P and (2) additional lenses and there is still plenty of space for my Galaxy Tab S2 8 tablet to fit inside. It can also fit my iPad 9.7 Pro without any issues. It will NOT fit any laptop that I know about. The inner lining is removable if necessary. The materials used are top-notch and are very unique. The leather and fabric both have a unique scent. To me this scent is quite strong but very pleasing. One key aspect I really like is how this bag maintains it's overall shape. Even while wearing and using this bag, the form of the case is very stiff -- but still flexible. It's not like a hard shell but a very soft case. So you don't have to worry that you'll need two hands when manipulating the top cover. Again, the craftsmanship and design were very well done and thought out. My only issue with this bag is the length of the strap. Also, it's not removable. I understand the reasoning of having a permanently-fixed shoulder strap but after owning many leather briefcases and camera cases over the years, a user-replaceable shoulder strap is just common sense. The strap length at its maximum I measured at 48 and this is rather short if you want to wear it cross-body. The shoulder strap itself is of excellent design and also uses the ultra-smooth chocolate leather. It's quite comfortable to wear. I left feedback for the company asking if I can purchase a replacement shoulder strap. They make a longer strap with lobster claws for a different model. I was asking for a custom length as I don't mind adjusting the strap for different positions -- so longer is better. I was contacted the very next day. This company is very serious about its customer support and that's a good thing. My now-resolved issue was the button design. I like the single-locking aspect of this bag -- it makes for quick access -- but I wasn't sure how the button would work, especially one-handed. I was quite relieved when the button worked perfectly. (Also, I generally preferred having the closing mechanism in a downward position -- with gravity.) Both points were proved to be trivial and don't bother me at all now. The cost of this bag is slightly higher than similar Billingham models but I think this bag has a very unique personality that's very hard to let go. I own (2) Billingham models -- including the Leica model -- and while I'm not parting with either of them yet, I wouldn't hesitate to do so. For now, I'll be using the Pageboy for my Leica rangefinder. PS. I now see that this particular model is a special-order only so that may divert new orders to another color choice but I think the tweed model is quite amazing. Highly recommended.
